Patto's new green meanie
Here it is, at long last!
David Paterson debuted his new Torana at QR on the weekend, and turned a few heads. It's one of the nicest looking cars out there, and after some oil dramas were sorted out, it got down to some decent times. It was different to see Patto in a bit of a tank slapper coming onto the straight- we saw you there! Anyhow- here is a pic of the beast in action: |

G'day Marcus, thanks for the compliments everybody, Dad has put about three coats of polish on the car since i bought it. He is the king of the car detailers.
I sold the Datsun to one of the other guys in the club and actually had a teriffic dice with it in my first race. |

Nice lines... Looks like an old Buick that was left out in the rain and shrunk up. I like it, definitly better than a Datsun!

Thnak You everybody.
Lee, it is actually based on a stretched Vauxhall, but as was typical of Holden up until the late '70s, the styling leans heavily on GM USA for influence. In fact, if you come to Australia, you will see many old Holdens that remind you of Chevys, Buicks, Olds etc. |

Couldn't resist posting this pic, the numbers are even close! This was me at Winton in 1985 (I was very young at the time!) It was never as pristine as the green machine but it was cheap and quick. I had 2 great seasons in it and it's good to see that GTRs are still being used as they were intended.

G'day Roscoe, I think we were all pretty young in 1985. Car #46 up here is an XM Falocn with the 170 pursuit motor, hooboy! You're right about fast and cheap, it's hard to think of another car that gives better bang for your buck. What spec was your car and what class did you run in.

The car ran in club events either in road reg. or touring car. It had a 192ci engine with 13:1 compression ratio so I ran it on avgas which i believe was around 115 octane at the time! I cant remember camshaft spec bit I used a single WW Stromburg carb which everyone laughed about and a locked diff. It had huge torque and controlling wheelspin was a problem. Had some special dampers made following advise on suspension from Harry Firth. It was crude but worked.

My car runs a 202 with triple 48mm Dellortoes, Yella Terra roller rockers and a finned alloy rocker cover, which impressed Kevin Heffernan, no less!
It has the M21 4 seed box with a welded diff and standard XU1 brakes. It runs in Historic Group Nc - Production Tiuring Cars from 1965 - 1972. I'm in the 2001 - 3500cc class, which is absolutley dominated by LJ XU1s. Although there are V6 Capris, Mazda RX2s, Porsche 911s and the odd HR Holden 186S to keep us honest. |

What are you allowed to do to the suspension? Like bushes and things?

Bushes are free, but suspension must be of the same design and use original mounting points.
