I reckon da Matta would considering himself "too good" for IndyCar.

Would be interesting to see da Matta back in Champ Car though.

In reality he'd have it the wrong way round if he said that. A return to ChampCar would mean continuing in a predominantly road-racing series, but with an arguably weaker field of rivals, especially if Bruno moves on.

Since Christian Fittipaldi drove for Newman/Haas, and seems to be "not in a seat" this year, do you think he could be a possibility???

I know....Emerson is a die-hard with the other series (but he can't swing a deal to run a team or compete, either)...and that blood is thicker than water, etc...

I would think it is a long-shot at the very best scenario...

but you never know....

Me, too....

He doesn't seem to turn up on anyone's radar screen when seats are available in any racing series....

Da Matta hates the IRL and has said he will go to V8 cars first.

Indeed.

I'm not a fan of this habit of wishes or rumours being posted as solid facts!

"IMO" means "In My Opinion", and is often added to statements that are not based on solid (and justifiable) facts.

Um, let's see marcus if I have my letters down pat..ABCD..
Just make sure you have justifiable, factual numbers or else you'll have to resort to letters.
IMO, BTW....LOL

IMHO, as long as BJ has a ride for next year, preferably with N-H, I'm happy.
And I don't really care if it's in the IRL or OWRS....IMHO

I don't think I ever heard DaMatta say he "hated" the IRL.

I think he's smart enough not to burn any bridges, and the IRL could very well become an option for him. Never say never!

He once said he would rather race push bikes than the IRL. His loss.

The rumor I hear is this:

Most all of the NHR management and crew, PacifiCare, Lilly, Junqueira and Bourdais(!) are going with Haas and Honda to the IRL.

Newman can do what he wants. He wont have drivers or team, or even much equipement in the split. The feeling is Newman is all talk much like Emerson Fittipaldi or Mario Andretti, and wont do anything. Personally I can see him taking the McDonald's partnership and hiring somebody like Walker to field a car for him in CCWS (like Pat Patrick did in IRL).

Obviously nothing will be said publicly for another six weeks. So we shall see. But is seems a done deal.

That's interesting, since Bourdais has publicly said that he thinks the IRL form of racing is to dangerous, and that it does not interest him....

But we'll see what shakes out of it...

How do I put this politely, I've got ZERO, NADA, NO interest in seeing Bourdais ever come here. The reasons should be obvious, no need to state them.

And if DaMatta really did have bad things to say about this series, he can take a walk to.

Why do these team owners insist on bringing drivers who have little, or no interest in being here, and who have made derogatory remarks about the series? For a paycheck? Sorry, thats not good enough.

I want to see good, young, and deserving drivers come into this series, guys that really want to be here, and that want to make there mark in this series, not use it as a stepping stone to something else, or use it as a stop-gap, or fall-back, when there careers are in the toilet. Who wants to listen to drivers whining about how dangerous it is?

Cmon Carl, you have a great chance next year, to find the next Sam Hornish, Buddy Rice, or Dan Wheldon. These guys are stars, Bourdais, DaMatta and Bruno will never be here.

Bruno has done good at Indy though, and I can't say I have seen him speak badly about the IRL. Could have missed it, of course..

My point being; I wouldn't mind seeing Bruno race in the IRL.

Alright, alright, scratch Bruno from my rant! Geez...

But I have always found him to be abit whiny in CC, so I don't picture him having the right stuff for this series, thats all...
