Light at the End of the Tunnel
Why is it that the offseason seems to last forever?
This artile at least gives us some hope that it will end. Eventually. Some day. Kinda soon. Ish. |

Well, the worker applications for Long Beach arrived about two weeks back, and when that shows up in my mailbox I know the season's really gonna start. Remember two years ago? I was still waiting by my mailbox by this date, wondering if we were even going to be at the Beach. (I remember I said to h*** with it and bought my plane tickets anyway.) So things are definitely better now.
Always a rush when the first wheel of the season gets turned in anger. I see it on other people's faces, and I think they must see it in mine, when we first hear "cars on course" and that fabulous howl erupts from the pit lane -- it's just pure joy. Even from a distance it's wonderful, and it's more so when the first car slams by (I always listen for that distinctive turbo chirp at the turn-in). Sigh.... keke |

Don't worry - the World Rally Championship has already started and NASCAR gets underway this coming weekend with Formula 1 just a few weeks behind as well.
What offseason? Kidding aside, I look forward to Champ Car getting underway. I might not agree with certain things in the direction Champ Car is taking, but at least the field will be a bit more stable this year and more importantly Road America is back on the schedule. |

I am personally waiting to see how Champ Car and the IRL will stack up against each other. Champ Car is more stable than the IRL for the moment, and if CC has a good season this year perhaps some IRL teams may defect to CC in 2007. So, toward the end of the season I am predicting some announcements.
