Masters Festival Donington 4-5th July
A new event. I like the look of the 4 hour race into dusk on the Saturday, so have booked a ticket.

Yes I'm supposed to be going on Saturday.
Slightly disappointed there isn't a full card of historics like there used to be at the meeting in September? |

An enjoyable day. The mixture of Masters and BRSCC worked better than I thought it would.
Walked all of the circuit I was allowed and managed to shoot through or over fences at several locations. Using the GP loop helped. Only down side was the appalling commentary. How can spectators keep track of positions, in a 4 hour race, when the commentator is so out of his depth. |

Just looked at results for 4hr, and the attrition rate suggests must have been very hot! 29 starters, 15 finishers......
Well done the two Morgans that started and finished. Keith and Billy in the former's SLR, Malcolm and Rick in the former's +4. Sturdy old crates, Morgans! |

It was odd to listen to parts of the Live Timing commentary and contemplate what might be understood by anyone not a regular Historics spectator on hearing suggestions that some had problems from the off because it was a new car. So they had decided that in the worst case scenario they could just treat the event as an extended test session. It was quite warm locally but I didn't think it seemed exceptionally hot. However using the GP loop perhaps added some extra stresses in certain areas of probable weakness. All pretty much what one might have expected in period I suppose. |

It was a cracking days racing, sumthing about Donington and historic racing it's a great combo.
Great to see the cars getting used as they should be, hard close but fair racing all round. Any how here my vid from yesterday, with action from the 4hr race, Pre-66 touring cars, Masters historic sports cars, Masters 70's celebration, Scottish Classic sports and from the Karting Legends demo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg-Db6kOplk |
