Anyone know anything about this?

Certainly an interesting piece of kit.

Pete Robertson used one in the '80s but the engine bay layout looks different to the one on Page 26 of my Rallycross book, though the just visible blocked off headlight looks similar. I'll be able to dig out some more info & photos in a week or so.

it is definitely not my dads old car, he ended up breaking it for spares and the shell went to the scrap yard, shame really

Yes, I came across some other pics of your dad's car and noticed lots of differences - body, engine, suspension, etc. I can't remember another MGBGT V8 rallycrossing at the time but I'll go back through old entry lists at some point and something may turn up.

I remember a little about MGB's in Rallycross, I remember one with 'pop rivets' sponsorship and the name 'Richard Stok' seems to ring a bell was 30 years ago so......

You're right - I had the name Richard in my mind but couldn't quite remember the surname. Something else to look up shortly!

Hiya Bill, little off topic, but while your in a looking up mood, you mentioned in your book that my uncles team mate Bill Riddle was planning to use a Ferrari 308 in 1983, have you got any more info on this please? I can remember seeing the shell in the workshop as a kid, but obviously never materialised, I asked my uncle Rob a few years back but he can't really remember much about it.

Was also told Bill had the first turbo charged Escort in rallycross, would you no if thats true please?, thanks Bill

Ooh, that takes me back a bit. I'll try and sort out answers shortly. I'm a little pushed for time this week as I have a number of work related problems to look at first (always the case at the end of the holiday period) but I won't forget.

Voice from past - Richard Stok

Hi folks,

I fell over this thread, so as the other mob v8 rallycrosser (after Pete Robertson whose shell I bought), let me confirm this is not my car. we cut front chassis off at bulkhead and welded a triumph front end on, then inserted an e type IRS complete with LSD and 4.33 ratio. My brother in law did the hard work and we still have the build photos.

Yes we had sponsorship from Tucker fasteners, makers of the original pop rivets, so we had white dots and pop rivets livery on red paint.

I am on Richard at stok dot co dot uk and live near Bracknell.

cheers

Richard Stok
