adam carroll made a rubbish start and lost big time. he was 20th but i think he made up some places.
van de merwe had a really quiet race, never even seen him. rosberg didnt even start because he was sick. couple of spin offs and minor crashes aswell. 1 safety car period didnt make much of a difference. |

That explains why Nico didn't qualify well yesterday.

The drivers become younger by the day
The 2-year-old(!) Austrian beat pole-sitter Nelson Piquet Jr. and Ryan Briscoe to the chequered flag. (source: F1 Racing.net) |

Congratulations to Tor Graves, he did well to get into the race and finish ahead of some more "highly rated" drivers.
To reply to a point made earlier, Ernesto was driving for Fortec this weekend in a "Class A" car, his first run in the current spec Dallara, he usually drives a "Class B" Dallara for P1. It is generally accepted that the previous generation of Dallara chasis has a wider "sweet spot" and hence is easier to drive. |

especially if you're fairly over enthusiastic with the car like ernesto is. and it's a different car.
i thought someone said andrew thompson didn't qualify! |

He didn't but was 1st reserve, so when Nico withdrew he got to play!
Ernesto is fast and could be very good when he's smoothed of the rough edges! |

Any info on the retirements?
I'm mainly interested in Antinucci and Kubica. |

Pretty good race. Shame Bremer and Watts got together down at turn 1.
Too much sand at Zandvoort for my liking. Watts, Viso and Fortec were on my flight home. |

Kubica had technical problems, at one moment he parked his car almost at the middle of the track! I have no idea about Antinucchi.

Good result for Nelsinho. Faster than Green, Van der Merwe, Briscoe...
But as his father always said: 2nd is the first loser. |

Agreed, but read below: Nelsinho was perhaps on the slow side of the track, and it was difficult to overtake. But this is no excuse - Klien deserved to win. Klien, Nelsinho and Briscoe did a good job.
from crash.net In front of a race day crowd of over 50,000 people, Nelson Angelo Piquet Jr. today finished the prestigious Marlboro Masters of F3 event in second position having been overtaken on the run-up to the first corner on the opening lap. Some people deemed Piquet's outside grid position to be slower than Christian Klien's second slot and Klien certainly made the most of his inside line. The largest lead Klien held was just over one second, but this was intermitted with several aggressive attacks from Piquet, though to no avail due to a circuit deemed virtually impossible for passing. "Unfortunately we didn't have a good start," commented Piquet, "The race was difficult, I tried to overtake and pushed and pushed, the car was very good over most of the circuit except the final corner where I had too much understeer which meant I couldn't mount a challenge down the pit straight and into the first corner. "When I saw five laps remaining I tried to attack again but there was no way past. I am happy for my first year though and very happy to have taken the pole, it has been good and next year I will try to win it." Last edited by piquetfan; 11 Aug 2003 at 13:43. |

The Dutch commentator Allard Kalf said that the Honda cars are slow starters. Is this true?
