PULSERACING should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
New Team coming soon.

A new team is being devised by myself , and im looking at entering a championship in 2010 with hopefuuly a couple this year for experience. Its still early days so sponsership is my main concern at the moment, but it would be nice to hear from anyone who is after the opportunity to be involved in his project. This is the first contact with this site so ill see how it goes. Thanks Andy.

What project? You haven't specified what the project is, or what it's about?

If you mean sponsorship, bear in mind that most of the people visiting this section are after sponsorship themselves - it's unlikely that anyone will come to you with money or offers, particularly if you don't tell them what they're likely to get in return...

Couple of threads to read on the subject of sponsorship, from this very forum:

Thanks for the welcome. The main championship we are lokoking at is Formula Ford, as my heart is with open wheel racing or the Britcar Series of which we have a few connections. This would be for the 2010 season as there is alot to prepare. For now we are trying to spread the word amongst like minded ,passionate people so this cant harm. Our site is www.thepulseracingteam.webs.com Have a look guys.

Hmm, no plans, no past record, no money; what is going to attract sponsors?

Good luck - you're going to need it!

Call me pedantic, but one thing that won't attract them is spelling sponsorship incorrectly on your site .

I tried to get sponsorship for the last 2 years to do the funcup. I had fully professional brochures, info sheets and folders printed. We got all the information on Tv figures, sponsorship brakedowns, different packages and for each company we hit on, we had an artisits impression of a fully liveried car for them. We were uber professional. All this was taught to me by Dave Forster of Team DFR/Team JLR fame! (Fame maybe wasn't the right word... Experience maybe!) We booked meeting with companies, organised who was saying what, had presentations and basically were pretty professional looking. Did we get any sponsorship? Did we buggery. Basically we had no track record to speak of. So no chance.

Looking back Dave Forster was a sucsessful mini racer and builder and built the DFR reputation on the back of his previous independent sucsess. That is why we (cdd-motorsport.co.uk) have bought our Formula vee (previously mentioned in this forum) and have decided to fund our own race team. We are planning on doing some sprints and testing this year and then the Formula Vee championship in 2010. Eventually I'd love to run a Formula ford, renault, f3, clio team and do it professionally but you need the reputation to get the money.

Also your website isn't exactly professional looking. I made ours in about 1 hours and although I'm now redesigning it and changing the whole look of the site, you can still see how much more professional and better it looks. Also you have a .webs.com site, although you can have a .co.uk site for £5.99 (contract runs for 2 years).

For someone to give you money you need to be really really professional. I think (and this is just an opinion, don't take it to heart, as I'd love you to do well) your probably aiming too high. Like we did with the Funcup(that sound dreadfull Funcup=too high?!) and maybe look at running a Vee, north-west Formula ford or mono team. I know it's harder to find paying drivers in these championships but it would give you a much better grounding into running a team and what goes with it than (once again an opionion, don't take it to heart...please) bursting onto the national scene with the possibility making fools out of yourselfs. Now I'm not saying you would make fools out of yourselfs but there is a good chance that you could.

I think you really need to get all the behind scenes stuff sorted before even looking for sponsorship.

Feel free to ask me any questions on either this forum or david@cdd-motorsport.co.uk

Just put your efforts into working hard and fund your racing out of that like 90% of us do I would say and don't waste fortunes on printed booklets and presentations its all a waste of time and money. Look its hard enough these days to get anyone to back an entire championship, if you knew how little they get these days you would be gobsmacked.

I can't see anybody in this economic climate giving any serious money away to a new unknown team with no track record.
38 years ago I hand wrote letters to loads of firms around the UK and I got one reply saying "sorry but no" !
I could get a few quid from local small firms but in all fairness writing J BLOGGS BUILDERS and racing 200 miles away didn't do a lot for them !
I had to start with people that I actually knew and get them to go to the meetings and show what it was all about. Luckily the first proper race meeting I did on the large racetracks I actually won. but after short circuits and motocross I wasn't exactly a novice at motorsport.
I had a bit of luck in that a new guy who moved in opposite to where I worked was on holiday, and I saved his house from severe flood damage . I had only met him a couple of times and he turned out to be the GM of a motoring magazine who subsequently sponsored me. This in turn led to other advertisers in the mag helping me out. Who you know not what you know is the key IMHO.
So in this day and age you are very lucky to find new sponsors for serious money considering how poorly attended most meetings are.
When I started there wasn't too much else on a Sunday apart from church !

Someone gave me a huge, glossy brochure at Autosports trying to get me to persuade Uvex Racewear to sponsor them in the Porsche cup. Said the TV coverage was huge.

I watched the Porsche Cup on t'telly t'other day....you couldn't even SEE the sponsors' names. TV coverage ain't what it's cracked up to be.

BTW brochure went in the bin before I left the show :-)

Not negative, realistic. You're dreaming of an operation with a potential budget running into six figures & all you have to offer is a website full of spelling mistakes; not impressive to a potential sponsor.

First you need to establish your credentials. All you say on that point is that you are 'a group of passionate Motorsport enthusiasts'. Enthusiasm is laudable, but it's no substitute for experience. Has any one of you ever been involved in motor sport in any capacity? Running a team is an enormous undertaking, especially at the level you're talking about - not a job for amateurs, no matter how well-intentioned. Who are your prospective drivers?

Have you sat down & worked out a business plan? Cost out your various options & then consider how you're going to finance it. The only money you can rely on to fund your efforts is your own; any sponsorship you may obtain is a bonus!

Take a long, hard look at your website from the point of view of a prospective sponsor. Would you put your money into what appears to be nothing more than the result of a pub conversation, with no substance to back it up?

Welcome to the real world! As I said in my first post, good luck, but I think you need to do a lot more research & be more realistic in your ambitions – learn to walk before you try to run. I’d be delighted if you proved me wrong!

True, but I'd still use the .com as the "primary" so that search engines pick it up.

In the same vein, the paragraphs/line breaks seem to be a bit odd which makes it harder to read.

------------------------------

I think, being honest, you're going to struggle to be taken seriously if you haven't got a clear direction and proven background to show your form. I think you are reaching too far, and too soon.

You will need to do at least a year on your own dime before you can tackle this - and then only with a good run of success and lashing of luck, I feel.

I've just clicked onto your site, and I have to agree with other posters as regards the grammar and spelling. Sorry but you may think that by having a web page that's all you have to do.
But in this case it is very counter productive, and I would advise you to at least take it off the Internet and get it designed better, and also get somebody that has a better grasp of correct spelling instead of what a lot of people tend to do in this day and age, and that is spell how they talk !

I hate to say, but it does seem overly optimistic. If you're looking for someone to back you, consider that your car will merely be used as an advertising medium.

I paid £650 for an advert in the Yellow Pages for a year and at the £25 an hour I charge, I will easily get that back. What you might be asking is for someone to pay maybe £50,000 or £100,000 or even more. What companies would generate that much revenue from an advert on the side of your car in a year?

Either way, if you somehow manage to get a car and need a young driver...I'm free!
