Knockhill

This is probably one of the hardest tracks in the world to edit. Try to come up with changes good enogh for FIA licence grade 2. Keep the bridge and also you must have a rallycross layout and keep it one of britains best spectator circuits.

The only experience I have or seeing this track is on 'Race Driver' 1 and 2...

I am a huge fan of short simple tracks (eg, Pukekohe, Symmons Plains)... and this track is one of them, I wouldn't change it at all, its perfect the way it is ...

I just loved Knockhil on Toca Touring Car 2. Simple, yet very, very hard to get it right every single lap.

And I quite like your edit, Nicky. Thumbs up!

Maybe I'll have a go later on.

for those of you who are not familiar with this track duffus dip is down hill and the run from butchers to chicane and clark to talors is uphill plus there are no garages like the old days!

*ahem* not something I'd usually talk about but I did stand next to him in the toilets...

Knockhill is too good to explain, track wise.

Knockhill is so difficult to edit because it is so special to us scots, its just the fact that its not got the best facilities.

So improve the facilities. The track itself is great & needs no alteration. It is a driver favourite & provides a great spectacle for spectators. Therefore improve the pits, grandstands etc......just leave the track alone!!

For more international racing, I think widening the track could help. I'm not sure whether it's currently wide enough. And an extension without changing the original track is always good. Something like Nicky did.

My main problem with Nicky's edit is that the new turn at Clark would be very tight & the slower nature and tighter exit of the corner would, I believe, destroy overtaking oppertunities through this corner. Then the run out of Daewoo takes the cars right back onto the originat track up to Taylor's-a right hander. Overtaking at this corner is largely possiblae at the moment due to the left of Clark into the right of Taylor's allowing cars to easily get up the inside-something completely ruined in this edit. Then there is the chicane after Taylor's. It is just not necessary. The straight is not long enough to necessitate a chicane. Widen it by all means-but leave the layout alone!

Not to be too harsh-BUT WHY!!! Seeing some of these seriously makes me wonder if you have ever seen a race at Knockhill. It doesn't need any extra overtaking oppertunities-it has loads already! It is on such a small scale that whatever changes you make internally will lead to the distruction of the place-Lustig, that corner before clark is not much looser than the hairpin at Hockenheim. That as a corner is ok because it has a 200mph straight before it so it makes it reasonably interesting but at Knockhill in your edit the cars would be travelling 90mph at most. You think the Hungaroring is bad for overtaking and fun-any edit of Knockhill with new track on the interior will be worse!

Then the first thing it needs is improved drainage in the existing run off. Also, the areas you're proposing to build on are very boggy and would also need draining before any works could commence. IIRC there is a sudden change in gradient between the bog previously mentioned, and the rallycross track, so extending the circuit to meet with the rallycross track may also be impractical. Just a few thoughts from someone who has squelched his way through that perticular piece of land
