Could you explain a bit. These look good but more information about each track on its own would be great.

I like the two courses at the top. The other two below them aren't necessarily bad, but I wouldn't write home about them.

It would help if we knew how long the circuits are supposed to be. All in all though they look good.

Welcome, and you've made a very good introduction for yourself.

Welcome to My Tracks

The Second image (top right) I particularly like. It reminds me of some of my very early stuff that I did using paint and Photoshop.

The Roval looks fine, though I wonder whether at scale there would be space.

The two with the circuits coming off Ovals I'd need more info on, as they would have to be flat ovals which I personally don't see the point of.

Flat ovals are no problem. Just look at New Hampshire. It doesn't even have to be fully flat as there is one track I know has the front and back straight shared by an oval and a roadcourse. Say up to 3 degrees is fine. the corners not connected can be whatever banking you'd like.

Has all of that been done on paint?

If so, 'impressed' is the word from this corner. The actual track design and layout is great, too. It's the attention to detail that does it for me.

Hi! Like Purist i really like the 2 first tracks too

1st one : There seems to be a real - yet fictionnal - big story behind that track. There seems to be a part of an older track that was put out of service, and for the part of the actual track that's out of the oval, it feels like there have been some modifications for safety reasons over the time. Would be nice to hear your version of the story!

2nd one : I find this one fantastic! Would really, really, love to go for a drive on this one! Nice variety of curves, some really tricky sections, a good straight line, some hard brakings.... everything i like Only thing i don't like is the hard surfaced runoff areas : I prefer grass, that while it's safe still gives you immediate sanction if your tyre goes tickling it. Abrasive asphalt runoff have their advantages but they kinda make it "too easy".
One thing i would add, is a second connecting bit before the one you drawed, to make 2 separate tracks, since you have 2 pits already.

And last but not least, as mentionned too, the attention to detail is great too Makes it much livelier (IMHO - yes i AM a detail maniac ).

Looking forward to see your next ones !!!

On another forum a discusion on run off areas emerged too and there aswell people agreed that asfalt on its own doesn't suffice in fairness or even safety. Agreed upon was also that grass would be too hard to maintain as holes in it would emerge at every moment someone drives through it. Finaly we agreed that artificial grass on its own wouldn't be safe if a worst case scenario crash emerged. As such gravel traps were chosen for their abrasive properties to slow down vehicles and people depending on the race.

If you want to know, the subject was the Masterscorner at Zandvoort.

Very, very impressing introduction, I like the 2nd track the best, reminds me of Magny Cours a little bit, though there's a runoff issue there on t2 (if cw),I'd like to see some kind of chicane before t2 or starting the turn much sooner, other than that a fantastic track, the last one has a bit of Homestead to it and that's not bad critiques but actually comparing your work to good, established circuits. All of the tracks look very clean for me, up to a high standard, no kiddie work there, sir.

Welcome to the board, looking foward to see more stuff.

That's OK to have whathever you want in the run-off area for as long as you have enough free real estate in the probable impact areas for the probable speeds attained by your racing clases. Rule of the thumb says 1 foot/MPH and that's too little for my taste, worse if is a paved run-off with no decelerating, energy-absorbing material and you are aiming your out of control vehicle to another section of the track with other racers doing their buisness, unaware of incomong UFO's, I see such scenario in my favorite of your tracks (2nd one), fortunately seems quite easy to solve and not change much the soul of your proyect!

I guess your talking about turn 3? across from the pits?
I totally get what your saying there is a barrier between turn 3 and 6

I'd say it would be T2, if I'm looking correctly. It seems the previous segment it's almost as long as the main straight, probably 5th gear on a bike and definitly triple digit, followed by a rather hi speed kink to the right, and that's where I see problems, have someone lose the front end or two racers coming in contact, or someone blowing an engine and leting oil in the track, even cars racing a wet race, it's impossible to mention all the variables, sooner or later, someone will get splattered on that barrier with posible debris re-entering the course. If I were a safety comission officer, I'd ask to make some changes there, I have my own ideas, but I'd like for you to make it at your own style.

UPDATE more runnoff room at turn 3
and more for the fast section out the back witch
i thought was abit sketchy
the reason i say turn 3 is coz there's a slight left after turn 1

That's a little better but I belive it can be improved, remember the race line it's not always and almost never, the geometrical shape of the track, in this case the race line and the probable impact zone would look like this:

THa thin black line represents the most logical race line, the thick red line represents the probable braking area and the projections to the probable impact zones, as you see, there's still a big chance that sooner or later someone will reach the barrier with catastrophic consecuences.(watch the Monza accident vid)

So I took the liberty to edit a little bit of your track, moving back the corner some 50 meters will definitly improve the safety factor of the track with as little tweaking as I could, preserving the original flavor.

I'm sure racers will appreciate the increased safety on the cost of merely 50 mt of straight line, they can now concentrate on fast racing rather than in a potencial tragedy.

If you do Luiggi's version, you'll want to ease that right-hander, and get rid of that extra kink before the hairpin altogether, for overtaking purposes.

Track 4 is my favorite, track 2 comes after, all four tracks look very good for me, I can't wait for you to start using Sketchup, you'll get on fire and blast some cool work, take a look at all your tracks once in a while and try thinking out all the "what if's" in terms of speed, trayectory and safety for spectators, some of your proposed grandstands are in the direct path of wreckage debris, but then I may be too bithcy about safety and stuff!

Number 2 screams Adalaide!!!!!
Track 4 is a little packed for my liking.
The others are OK, but I'm not a fan of Rovals, and the last two corners ont he airfiled scare me runoff wise.

Wow, you're coming up with some very good stuff. I'm impressed. Kudos.

Favourites include the road course from the first batch of tracks, the asymmetrical tri-oval from the 2nd batch you posted and the final from the most recent posting.

That Avus/Monthlery-extension type thing is quite fascinating from a conceptual point of view. However, I doubt they would still build it that way, over safety concerns of stuff flying over into the opposite lane.

And may I suggest not uploading *.bmp files because many browsers don't support these?
