Motor Racing Canberra

Hi folks,
pick your brains, My sister is moving to Canberra next year, and I will be going out to visit her at times. Any ideas on circuits/ events/ contacts etc. Also what duties could I do out there.
Thanks
Richard

Canberra. Exciting place, specially picked because it was neither Sydney nor Melbourne but a spot on the map equidistant between them.

Actually, I'm told it's very nice, but for motor racing you're equidistant between the two places that have any. You could try rugby instead?

Wakefield Park in Goulburn is only an hour or so up the road from Canberra. Doesn't hold any V8 meetings but has plenty going on.

Canberra about a 3 drive from Sydney for any Eastern Creek meetings or the Homebush street race.

From memory, about the same length drive to Winton in rural Victoria (it is just north of Benalla) and they have a V8 round plus plenty of other race meetings.

About the same length drive to Bathurst too - only used a few times each year but a pretty special experience.

Not a marshal myself so don't have any contacts for you but sure that some on here will be able to help.

It may be worth your while contacting the tracks directly via their web sites. They may be able to direct you to the correct contacts.

Wakefield Park- www.wakefeildpark.com.au

Winton Motor Raceway- www.wintonraceway.com.au

Good luck.

Clubs run events at the various Sutton Road motorsport complexes as well near the Canberra Airport.
