Northern Monkey Motorsport ***Newbie racer***
Hey everyone
I'm Jon and obviously a massive fan of motor sport, really looking forward to the new season of F1 and I suppose I'm a mclaren supporter but will cheer on all the british drivers regardless. What I am trying to do is raise our profile a little by gaining some followers on twitter. We started our little project last year -A Saxo VTR, we are 4 friends trying to create a racing car on a very tight budget, grass roots motorsport at its best. I have been toying between updates on a website ( nmm.prodeo.co.uk ) and twitter and I have found regular but brief updates on twitter work best for us. I would love it if any of you guys would follow us and give us feedback on this, when starting out I struggled to find up to date info on such a low cost basis and hope to provide anyone with a little info on what can be done and how much it costs. Thanks for reading and the twitter account is @N_M_Motorsport Jon |

Sorry but I'm a grumpy old git that believes you're better off spending more time in the garage than sitting on the laptop

Might I suggest a Wordpress account - they're free, and you can create news posts as easily as posting to Twitter, plus you're not limited to 140 chars. You can get apps for mobiles to enable you to post from anywhere, with photos. Might I also suggest you don't make a habit of repeatedly posting your site/Twitter URL here just to get followers, it's against our rules. |

Hey stuart
I was originally looking at the 750mc stock hatch, but also think i looked at one called tin tops with the classic car club. And also i wouldnt rule out rallycross. But tbh we are a way off that decision yet. Gonna try for some more trackdays this year and see how far we get. Jon |

Hi Jon
I ran in stock hatch between 2007 and 2010. 2007 with the feista xr2. 2008 we got hold of a newly built Saxo vtr. Had a one off outing in the euro saloons last season. |

Sounds great. I think it will be a long road. But my ultimate goal is to enter a race, any race but with a car we have done. Aiming for a couple of trackdays this year. And i would like to go to some m sport events aswell as a spectator.

At least your going the right way about it.
Once you've decided on what championship to race in I'd read the regs very carefully! |

Think i know where your coming from. My first intentions are to leave the car pretty much standard, have some fun and then decide which is the championship for us. I would prefer a standard class if it is possible ss i think it will help keep the costs down.

Very sound racing plan. If you're keeping the car reasonably standard don't discount hill climbs and sprints where you can compete in an everyday car while you learn your trade and decide what to do.

First stop the MSA web site, then Go Motorsport, then your regional sporting organisers...all accessed from the MSA and/or Go Motorsport. Not forgetting your local motor club.
You may or may not be aware that the MSA is the governing body of most Tarmac Motorsport in the UK plus loose surfaces (rallies) and some grass stuff (trials, gymkhanas). There are other governing bodies for oval racing in all its forms and quite a bit of other unofficial sport too. Search RAC Motor Sports Association and you'll not go far wrong. |
