Danica Signs a 3 Year Contract

Well, I knew Danica was staying with Andretti Green Racing but Danica signed a 3 year contract with AGR. Thats even better than I hoped!

Her main sponsorhip will be with Motorola and she will continue to drive the #7 car.

Danica is improving every year and she will only get better. I feel strongly she will win the Indy 500 and a championship before she is all done.

What I was trying to say is why dont we just set up 1 thread called "Everything about Danica" that way you can post till your hearts content and we dont have danica this danica that in every second thread title. Hey that's just my opinion

Congrats on the new contract.

With being the best placed AGR driver in the standings at the time as well as the best placed driver hailing from the US, it was clearly the right decision.

It's her first season as team leader, since Tony, who had that role previously, surprisingly didn't bounce back from his bad start to the season, probably partly due to his nasty accident at Indianapolis. Now, she needs to further work on her qualities as team leader.

And AGR need to come back to winning again. After Tony broke his ribs in that accident, they should probably have given him some time to rest instead of putting him on painkillers and into the car again for the next rounds. There was a lot of high quality driving talent available at the time. I'm thinking of Buddy Rice here, who could have stood in for a few races. How is Tony doing health-wise at the time? I hope he has healed well.

Marco and Hideki did show the occasional glimmer of rough diamonds, but did lack consistency.

It will be interesting to see who else will be at AGR next year.

It looks like Michael Waltrip and JR Motorsports are both highly interested in letting Danica race for thier team on a limited schedule in the Nationwide Series next year. This will be interesting on who she goes with.

I can see JR Motorsports since they have GoDaddy.com as a sponsor and they sponsor Danica already.

I was shocked to see her sign a 3 year deal and then say she will do nationwide part-time. All good news for her but maybe not so good for AGR.

I will be surprised if she does the whole 3 years if her NASCAR results become better than her IRL results, especially as she has said her future lies in NASCAR.

IRC you told us several times she had signed with AGR and while that may happen at some point it doesn't appear to be the case right now.

She shouldn't overplay her hand too much as if she was such a draw the tv ratings would not be a 0.07 with a couple thousand viewers watching out of a USA population of 310 million.

I see. So now you are limiting the discussion of Danica Patrick and IndyCar's popularity to projected ratings numbers from a single race.

Danica Patrick was apparently quite a local draw at that single race. She was mobbed at every public appearance, and I caught a glimpse of that at Homestead myself.

Television ratings numbers are based on households. There are not 310 million households in the U.S. There are probably not 310 million U.S. citizens who watch TV. Regardless of that lesser number, it's no surprise to find that for a single race, broadcast on a fringe network and stradling the midnight hour, not too many people stumbled across the event or made a great effort to schedule a Danica sighting.

Distortion of the facts will elicit a response from me every time. I guess it's just a coincidence that my follow ups appear right after your pronouncements.
