Its been going on since forever.

Nigel Mansell once claimed one of his greatest motorsport achievements was staying 25 for 5 years....

Although the younger the person the more 'appealing' they are, you still have to do the business, so i don't really see the fuss or whats 'bizarre' about it (according to the author)

They have to do this, or they'll risk being labelled old and said to have "lost it", then be replaced by some up-and-comer from another series (who proceeds to smash up the car in every session he participates in), all because they have to give "the young guys a go".

Fabrizio Giovanardi: I have like a banana - is the yellow car in front - that make me, you know, running like the monkey, running for the banana. When I see yellow in front, I just pushing harder and harder. I want that banana.

Well some of these people get so wrapped up in what peoples ages are rather than who gets the job done it does get silly. I really don't care if someone takes a few off their age.
