How about putting the real estate up for sale for a housing development and get out of motor racing altogether. Should give the BRDC members a nice little nest egg each.

You don't get into the BRDC if you think like that!

Of course not, but neither did the members of the Royal Automobile Club before they sold it out!

best way for the BRDC to spend money would be to put out a contract on BE and Max and do us all a favor.

If interpublic are so keen to buy their way out of the promoting of the GP they may try and buy out of the contract to operate the circuit.
Then the BRDC will get the extra money to keep Mr E. Happy. Just a thought, if BE is now promoting the GP, which essently just gets the gate money, and he runs FOM which gets every thing else, I can't believe he will let that little monopoly go without a fight. |

Seems Jackie Stewart is already part way down the path I said I wanted to see in my last post...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/3650715.stm That sounds fairly positive to me. |

As I understand it Interpublic paid BE to take it off their hands, he didn't have to buy it.

Which makes it all worse. Interpublic must have figured that paying BE to take the race back would lose them more money than running the races. IMO there's far too much spin in this situation to work out what's really going on. BE says the BRDC have or can get the the money to make the improvements the circuit needs. Jackie Stewart says they haven't. Brundle says they have, they're just waiting for BE's signature to get things rolling. Does any of them actually know what is going on? I would also add one more thought to the debate. The original plans for the new paddock / pit complex involved re-siting them to the hangar straight. If this is still the plan, this would wipe out the circuit and buildings currently used by the racing school. SO BE gets his shiny new offices which are used once a year, but on top of all the other financial issues, the circuit looses what is it's only constant source of income.
