A new location for the Australian GP
I just flicked on the tele, and in front of me, I was watching the Champcars bounce all over the Gold Coast street circuit. It was a spectacle and a half. Commentator's were saying it is CART's Monaco, the proverbial jewel in the crown.
So why not ditch the bland Albert Park ciscuit and travel to the sun, sand and street's of the Gold Coast in March 2006 for the Aussie GP?? I mean, it won't conflict with Melbourne's precious Commonwealth Games!! You read it first here.... |

Interesting thought - but i quite like the Albert Park circuit, but as you say with the Commonwealth games, it may be interesting to try for one year.

It'd be interesting - but would F1 with all those intra-suspension-arm winglets be able to finish a lap unscatched?

Albert Park is fine, but Adelaide is still the spiritual home of grand prix racing in Australia. IMHO...

The Indy street circuit on the Gold Coast is very tight I don't think F1 would be willing to go there on safety grounds they seem to want all new venues to be bland with massive run offs & no real danger.

While I have no problem with Albert Park, I dream of a F1 Race at Bathurst. Not going to happen I know.

Melbourne is great and there can be no better way to open the season.
But Adelaide was the best way to end the season. I say, let's have both! |

The trouble is, it's to short for F1, so would the original layout be still in use?

Although both the races deserve an F1 race so maybe they could alternate each year?

Bathurst!
The facilities are good enough(well you'd hope so after the money they spent on it), the circuits long enough and there are dozens of exciting new ways for million dollar F1 cars to be involved in prangs. Including, but not limited to, Kangaroos! That and the extent of the ground-effects forces on the cars, would certainly be, er, tested. |
