What do you mean "when it starts"? It's never going to start, it's a dead idea.

Britcar are running a V8 series this year which is open to anything V8-powered rather than the one-make chassis idea of SCV8.

I did read somewhere that Andy Rouse was hoping to be involved in the Britcar V8 series next year, which may suggest the possibility of him building SCV8 spec cars for it. Other than that, I would say that the chances of SCV8 ever seeing the light of day are pretty much zero.

SCV8 is long since dead. Long Live Dunlop V8 Supercar Challenge.

If it has a V8, a roof, 4 wheels, it's in.

The first race of the DV8SCC is at Snetterton on the weekend of 13th/14th May. For this inaugural round, there is one rule. No rules. It's a "let's see what happens".

At the meeting of minds during the Britcar Press Day back in March, it was muted that the method of levelling the playing field would be done by air restrictor, vs tyre size/weight. Similar to how it's done in the GT's. There may be classes for the sportscars (TVR's, Marcos' etc..) and the saloons (SCV8's, V8 Stars, DTM V8's, Thundersaloons, etc...) We'll see how it goes.

Andy is involved. He has already come up with a great idea - grid position based on reverse championship position - which should spice things up a bit.
We all agree that we need to make this series as entertaining as possible if it is to succeed.

See you all at Snetterton.

Rob.

There's another V8 concept floating around at the minute - XV8R I think it's called - which uses a Nicholson McLaren engine based around a Peugeot 407 or similar bodyshell. I believe the idea there is to build cars for use in other series (i.e. Britcar) rather than it's own stand-alone one-make series.

A lot has been said about the Britcar V8 series but it's all gone a bit quiet recently. There's only 4 races being run this year, 2 of which are part of the winter series, so we've got a while to wait yet to see if it takes off.

thebullet, you're right - SCV8 was supposed to start in 2004, just as it was supposed to start in 2001/2. These things have a habit of being announced but never getting off the ground.

Wasn't there one of those at the Autosport show? (I think it was on the Track and Race magazine stand)

SCV8 was a stupid idea, spaceframe cars that cost £200k? simply would never ever work. And people shouldn't have wasted thier time and money on it.

It's like Coogz told you less than five minutes ago! Have a look at the FAQs here http://tentenths.com/forum/faq.php?f...aq_reading_mod - it may be worth you having a look through all of it as it will answer most of your other questions too.

Not sure a roof is required - would exclude the Tuscans which as I understand it are most definitely welcome

Right then we have a restrictor based on tyre sizes so for me on 16 x 9's that means no restricter right, then the slowest cars start at the front so thats it then no restriction I start at the front only problem is the silly high entry fee. :-) This restrictor thing is a bit of a joke anyhow because you want a smaller car at tighter circuits someone was talking to me about a trick one you actually can change the CPM on in minutes to fine tune for different tracks. I think the 850 I am using is too big and causes a bog.

It seems a little similar to our Aussie V8 Supercar series.
