SennaTheGreat has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Lotus GP could sell a share to...............

Lotus Cars!!!!!!! So if that happens it would have a very small link to the old team and possibly see the return of the famous "ACBC" Lotus crest.

Bottom of the link, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/8405539.stm

I hope it happens. If it does, I would hope that it would limit this moving it to Kuala Lumpur plan (it would be sporting suicide to move everything there, but there would be advantages to running driver development, driver fitness training and a second set of design heads out there) and encourage them to re-register as British. Ideally they'd then be renamed to Team Lotus, I guess :P

In fact, while I will probably support the team next year, on any race intro thread I will refuse to recognise the team as Malaysian.

That is the thing that is really iratating me at the minute. Lotus is a british sportscar/supercar maker and the GP team (albeit in name only) is malaysian. If they want a malaysian GP team why not call it "Proton GP"

Lotus is effectively a subsidiary of Proton at the moment. I'm not sure how happy the suits at Hethel would be with backing a Malaysian-registered team, because the Lotus road cars are still heavily marketed as being British. I hope they do buy a stake, if they did it would make the team seem more legitimately Lotus.

If they buy a stake I would love to see the GP cars at least being designed in Britain. Or hopefully the suits at Hethel could even persuade them to keep there Malaysian registration but have the cars built over here! That would be fantastic

Why not? They've already let them use the Lotus name - that has come from Lotus Cars, not from Team Lotus afaik. Next step is to buy a stake in the team if they start to do well (which they will as long as they don't continue to hire complete numpties like Kovalainen)

Mssrs Gascoyne and Trulli aren't exactly numpties.

Another reason to buy a stake is marketing - they'd be able to stop the F1 team doing something damaging to the brand, like being slow or racing under the Malaysian flag.

They've got Kovalainen and Trulli. Surely this means that they've got experienced drivers on board, and managed to avoid Fairuz Fauzy - a team landed with the latter would surely not be a good prospect at all.

Yes, but he hasn't been given a race seat. Trulli should be good as a development builder, he's worth keeping, but Kovy isn't. If it weren't for his Malaysian passport no-one would want Fauzy as a race or third driver, bearing in mind his two years of GP2 with nul points to show for it. But if they want to appease the suits in Kuala Lumpur (let's hope it becomes somewhat more "the suits in Hethel"), it's nowhere near as bad as getting him in a race seat, he'd probably not be a vast improvement on Yuji Ide.

So they can use the name and they have a couple of old time drivers, perhaps they can gets some appropriate sponsers, perhaps someone from the gold plating industry or a company with intitial J and P and a corporate colour of Black now that could be a very special car.

Since when is driving in a junior series 3 years ago a good indicator of form? It's irrelevent. Have you been following the WSR this year? He finished 2nd to Baguette - clearly he's not an idiot at the wheel. He was just rushed into GP2. He has improved a hell of a lot lately

Go the black and gold!

Could it possibly, just maybe, look HALF as good as a 79??? Please?

Sorry, JPS MkIV...
