That sounds way better than the Audi and the Pug (that is not hard though)

I prefer Martin Shorts description of him last year, which was something like;-
"Nice bloke but when he gets in a race car he turns into white van man"

But I agree, he does have plenty of talent and pace!

I never said he hadn't made a mistake!
And that Mucke manouver was no mistake, it was a blocking manouver, just like you would expect in DTM or BTCC, but not usually seen in the LMS.

Slight change in topic.

Can someone please help me understand the difference between the Aston Martin DBRS9 and the Vantage GT2 that Drayson-Barwell will be running in the ALMS.

Is the DBRS9 even going to be competitive at Sebring? I thought that was a GT3 car. Will it be specked to GT2? Do they both run the same V8 engine?

Thanks.

They will use the GT3 car until the Vantage is ready as an emergency solution.

The DBRS9 has a V12 engine, like the GT1 DBR9, while the Vantage has a V8, which will be a 4.5 once it's ready to race, at St Petersburg (the road car is a 4.3).
The DBRS9 is running in its own class at Sebring, GT2S - and the main change from its British GT spec. is the fitment of an endurance gearbox (the same unit, the very one, that was used in the modified DBRS9 that ran in the Ring 24 Hours last year.
All information available on DSC - and ten-tenths now!

Does that mean that the Aston Project for the Ring is dead now? There are rumors about the car not coming back...

Can't see why using the gearbox from that car for the two early ALMS rounds would affect the Phoenix-run Aston project at the Ring, the gearbox could easily be returned and rebuilt in time for pre-24 Hour running on the Nordschleife in VLN if necessary.

This is not saying the car is coming back - I know nothing of that. The point is that it can't be taken as definitely indicating it isn't!

Just a thought: If they're aiming for a win they'll have to beat the "GT2" RSRs...so why not use a GT2 Vantage at the Ring?

Wow, the coupe is smashing and sounds great. Sound was somewhat expected.

The Vantage sounds totally fantastic!

Great way to end a miserable work week and while still undergoing race car sound withdrawl since Winter Test was a couple of weeks ago now.

The Nurburgring Vantage was not in the same class as the VLN GT3-RSRs. It's pretty much identical to the GT4-class V8 Vantage N24.

he wasnt saying that it was, he was saying why dont they use the GT2 Vantage instead of the DBRS9 that pheonix ran last year.

The GT2 Vantage is not ready yet, that's why the team is using a DBRS9 for the first two rounds.

Well, I wasn't too far off with the GT2 idea. Apparently Phoenix planned to put the Vantage GT2 engine into the DBRS9 but didn't get enough support for that. So they decided to focus on FIA GT and DTM.

ooooooohhhhhhhh ooooooooohhhhhh, the lola aston sounds fabulous, has a much nicer yowl than a normal DBR9 and the vantage sounds glorious, sounds similar to the markland corvette Z06 which made a lovely noise.

any word on what the LMP1 lola aston will be like livery wise?, maybe gulf colours to go with the GT1 prodrive astons

Expect it will be similar to Charouz's 2007 car, in Czech colours?
