New Race Circuit For Hunter Region???

There have been whispers from the powder room for some time about a race circuit/race event emerging from the booming Hunter region of NSW.

AA even picked up on some of that hype, front-paging an apparent plan for a street race for the central Newcastle CBD, complete with quotes from the local mayor.

But it now appears another, seemingly more tangible, permanent project has come to light...

Ringwood Raceway!

Website Here

The website suggests there is a proposal before Port Stephens Council (which was also rumoured to be holding a street race...) for the construction of this facility.

38km from Newcastle in rural Balickera, from the Google Maps images, the proposed track is seemingly well away from domestic dwellings..

...perhaps this is one of those new permanent circuits for the 'future of the sport'...

Presuming any of this actually happened...

AA and Mnews and others are a bit behind, this has been going for quiet some time. You could go back to the Darwin round to get the feel for it.

Yes it has to do with the black stuff that Jooolia wants to tax. The bloke has some dollars and likes to race cars , yes Nathan , so for those of you that live by AA and Mnews , a tad late.

Same as a V8 team setting up shop in central NSW. All you here is no team is selling up.

Every business is for sale at the right price.

sorry for some but, not everything gets into some form of media straightaway.

40 mil should do it

Hmmm, if they build it, and then it gets a few bumps on the surface; should it then be bulldozed away in favour of a housing estate?

I am not sure that I understand what you are saying in your post ?

but I know for a fact it is NOT tinkler

the owner is a bloke who likes cars and wants to build his own racetrack
and he can afford to do it .
the complex will be open to the public and will be used for club
level bike and car racing as well as driver training
it will be similar to wakefield park

the cost will be nowhere near 40 mil

It will want to be a long way from any residential areas. You can hear cars at Wakefield from the residential areas of Goulburn and that is a long way away. That is one reason it has a curfew of 4pm on the place and it really is sitting in the middle of a sparsely populated area.

I hear you, and except the info passed to me was reliable, but if not then I hope the guy does suceed. This area has a large population, urban and regional and if Nathan pursues his interests and kicks in some all the better.

It would good to see the Shannons Nationals and other visit.

Just a pity Goverments want support Regional activities like they did yeasrs ago

All the best for Newcastle racing

Its interesting to note that this proposed circuit is said to incorporate some of the design already in place at the former MG Car Club hillclimb venue.

Presumably having an existing facility in place makes the passage thru council & the state planning commission a little easier than just building a track in a back paddock..

the block of land was originally owned by the newcastle motor racing club
who built the existing hillclimb track
and the mgccn purchased the land approx 15 ? yrs ago.
there was a previous D.A lodged by motorplex for a race circuit , drag strip , and speedway. this D.A. was the subject to a long court battle ( approx 8 yrs )
it is a long story that I wont go into now.
when motorplex failed and went bankrupt the mgccn was approached
by italia road holdings re purchasing the property.
The MGCCN decided they wanted to keep there existing hillclimb
but were willing to sell off the other land
that has been used for many years for khanacross and off road buggies etc
so the land was subdivded
the previous history of the land helps.
I doubt there is anyone who is as intent to build a circuit
who actually has the money to do it than this bloke

I doubt it. I have been going there a lot longer than you (I would think) and yes it does have a curfew at 4pm. If you don't believe me ring the track and ask then come back here and let us know what they said.
