gravel_monkey should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Oulton Park, Jim Clark

hi guys, this seems the best section for this link for you all, rooting around on the net i found this little video and with the op gold cup fast approaching i thought it might be of interest to some of you. it is some on-board footage of jim clark at the 1963 oultonpark gold cup.

what gets me is the circuit layout itself is almost identical after all them years,

! Apart from the grassy kerbs/banks and the odd trackside tree!
A walk in the park....

great, init?!!! I'd love to see something like this for the modern era, but it'll never happen. Love the gold cup tho, its that event that got me in to marshalling...

Craig, we can afford grass up North you know! In fact Oulton Park has always had well manicured grass alongside the track. The only exceptions were when the RAC Rally and the Rallycross hooligans visited then the grass run-off areas were well chewed up!

Back in the days when this clip was shot The Avenue was still an avenue and there were none of the horrible gravel traps that now infect our racing circuits. I know it is a lot safer now however it is no longer the pretty parkland it used to be.
