Not entirely accurate there, some parts were sold at the same time to other parties including Pirelli buying one of the 2011 cars as a rolling promotional display. And it seems like he is interested in selling the HRT remains as F1 memorabilia as opposed to scrap, think he just may have had the deepest pockets and contacts for resale to put in the best bid.

So HRT's 2012 car wasn't deemed as better than the 2010 Renault (I think) for Pirelli's tyre testing

Yes, but there are no engines or gearboxes in the chassis that were sold. The engines and trans were returned to Cosworth and Williams respectively as they were leased.

It would be great if that 2011 HRT car could be re-liveried with the original 2011 HRT scheme by Cosmic Design, but with Pirelli logos.

Pirelli have ended up with a 2011 HRT and since they have no use for it they are going to auction it on ebay for charity. However anybody buying it will need an engine if they plan on running it and I suspect Williams should be able to supply transmission parts.
