Does this move show that Mr Vettel still holds some pretty big sway within the powerbase of RBR?
Mr V lobbed up to his old buddy Mr Horner after his Russian crash, and complained about Mr Kyvat. Bing bang boom... Mr Kyvat is moved to the B team... Coincidence? |

Thanks TWRv12, good article.
Pretty high praise from Buxton: "From the first time I ever saw him in an open-wheel racecar one thing has been certain in my mind. Verstappen isn't just good. He isn't just great. If designers can take a car to the edge of what is physically possible, Max Verstappen can make that car dance to the point of appearing to go beyond the realms of what we know to be physically possible. He isn't a once-in-a-generation talent. He's a once-in-a-lifetime talent." Buxton http://www.racer.com/f1/item/129201-...=&limitstart=2 |

Why on Earth would Christian Horner do that at Vettel's desire? We know how ruthless Red Bull can be - Buemi, Vergne, Alguersuari - and this is just part of that pattern. If Verstappen is that good, you want him in your A team as soon as possible. But you keep Kvyat on the back burner in case he proves himself and in case Ricciardo leaves.

The thread has the wrong title in only mentioning Kvyat and the wrong focus in the first part, as this is not about demoting him. It is more about promoting Verstappen. Potentially great drivers hold quite a balance of power and Red Bull were in a position where they had to give him even more to hang on to him.
The dynamic between him and Ricciardo will be interesting, as they are different characters and Daniel is much older. |

I too see this as more of a promotion for Verstappen rather than a demotion for Kvyat. In fact, I think the move is more aimed at keeping Jos Junior as Red Bull know that other teams have been sniffing around this (supposedly) future superstar.
As for this being because Vettel moaned at Christian Horner because Kvyat had him off the road I really don't think so. Why would one of their old drivers who now races for competing team have any influence? |

demotions arent always bad things. Kvyat seems to be handling it well enough. the STR is a very good car and if DK can make a go of it he might still find his way back to the A team.
two of my favorite drivers are Massa and Grosjean. i like the underdogs and Kvyat just joined that group. actually if anything i feel a bit sorry for MV. he has always had a lot of pressure on him but expectations just went up astronomically. he's swimming with the big boys now and its not a very forgiving place. |

Disappointing run by Kvyat. He needed to outperform Sainz and instead he was firmly shaded. But I suppose it's early days - give him a few races to bed back in at STR.

But Kvyat he finished 10º and on points. Not that bad for his first race back at Toro Rosso.
BTW, Facu Regalia, the man who lost on Daniil's hands the 2013 GP3 title, also finished today 10º in one of the races of the TRV6 Touring Car series where he races now... What a coincidence. |

If contact with Ricciardo caused his flat tyre I'm suspecting Kvyat might be out of F1 sooner rather than later.
