Just noticed that Aus GT has changed their calendar for next year from one event (Bathurst) to 4 events. I wonder if there is only going to be the four or will they add some more later (I hope so).

I don't know what you mean by 1 event ?
Reading this weeks AA, i'm pretty sure
that Tony Quinn said that there would be
about 6 rounds with the possibility of
Winton also.

Currently the AGT website has 4 events for 2013.
Bathurst (12 hour), Adelaide (Clipsal), PI (May) & Eastern Creek (July)

Hope the night race returns at Clipsal, that was a good idea.

Read in AA a few weeks back that Mark Eddy is looking to buy a R8 LMS Ultra for the 2013 season.

As of lunch time yesterday their site only had 1 event listed for next year!!!

Queensland Raceway perks my interest - will it be part of Shannons or V8s? Should try to get to SMP to check out the changes there too...

1 x 60 & 1 x 40 min races @ V8 Supercar round - Clipsal 500, Adelaide
3 x 40 min races @ Shannons Round - Phillip Island
2 x 60 min races @ Shannons Round - Sydney Motorsport Park
1 x 60 min & 1 x 40 min races @ Shannons Round - Queensland Raceway
300km Enduro @ Highland Motorsport Park, New Zealand

That's a much better calendar than what they had in 2012...No rounds where the GT guys struggle to get 90minutes in total on track for a race weekend...

we can run this years spec which is a bigger splitter and double dive plates plus a couple of suspension mods but nothing major.

Australian GT secures long term support from Pirelli

The Australian GT Championship organisers are proud to announce a new 3 year sponsorship deal with Italian tyre maker, Pirelli.

The series will now be known as the ‘Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli’ and for the next three years competitors will race on tyres supplied by Pirelli’s Australian distributor, Trofeo Motorsport.

“This is going to be very good for Australian GT [AGT] and the many competitors who compete in the series,” category owner Tony Quinn said. “The Pirelli investment will also prove attractive to those competitors looking to join the GT field, because the benefits are considerable.”

“I welcome Pirelli and Trofeo and I believe this deal will really benefit our entrants,” said Australian GT Category Manager Ken Collier.

“Our new arrangement means significant prize money and lower cost tyres which makes racing more affordable - it’s as simple as that.”

Trofeo General Manager Rod Wilson said AGT presents a great opportunity for Pirelli, “The aim was to not only promote Pirelli but support GT racing and motorsport in general, where Pirelli can really exhibit the quality and performance of their tyre technology.”

Collier also announced that the final round of the 2013 Australian GT Championship to be held at the Tony Quinn owned Highlands Motorsport *Park in New Zealand, will be a signature event for Pirelli, with a three hour race and more than $50,000 prize pool in cash and tyres to attract a bumper grid to this exciting new world class venue.

Any chance Tony Quinn will get a 12C GT3 or GTR GT3 this year? I seem to remember mumblings about him looking at both for AGT this year but neither eventuated...

Im pretty sure he owns a McLaren. No idea what he plans to do with it though.
