Fantastic, the PopularTV stream is not showing GP2 , plus the GP2 section from this page has been removed http://www.populartv.net/index.php/P...automovilismo/

England PPV.
It's not PPV in either Germany or England - it is on a standard subscription service.

Don't think any motorsport has ever been on PPV in UK.Nearest I can recall is when you had to go to the cinema to see 1966 Indy 500.Was not repeated.I think PPV would be a bettter idea than the subscription service provided by Setanta and Sky in view of the limited amount of sport I actually watch for the £11 per month Sky charge?

F1Digital+ was PPV in 2002 here in the UK (we were relatively late to the digital F1 party), though for the last 7 races there was a "season ticket" subscription offered iirc, which was around £50. On a PPV basis, each meeting cost £12.

GP2?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering, who has the rights for GP2 tv coverage these days? I know last year it was ITV, but i've been looking out for it, but it appears it is no longer on ITV.

Thanks in advance,
James

Apart from Setanta, Mobil 1: The Grid (Channel 5 on Saturday mornings; also shown on Motors TV) showed some very short highlights (2-3 minutes, and sadly only one race) of Barcelona, though no sign of Monaco in today's episode. Check the threads here on race weekends and other places to watch have been mentioned too

Actually I see GP2 highlights from Monaco are in the Motors TV version of The Grid shown tonight, just not in the Channel 5 edition...

They lost massively with Eurosport, now with F2 and FM, you can either watch Eurosport if you have it, or you can watch the races online. Same with A1, it's just a better way to cover more public and I've no idea why they keep on selling the championship with F1. The support race that has the best coverage right now is Porsche Supercup, because it's sold seperately!

Flav/Bernie/Bruno Michel will have to act quick to ensure the series gets onto another tv deal?

Beeb's ideal opportunity to put it on after all the flack they've had for shunting it off to Setanta in the first place!

It's FOM's problem really: they own the rights. Frankly they should have insisted that BBC find a home for it, even if they put it on BBC4 or Dave.

I wonder why the Beeb handed it back to Bernie... to be honest, GBP2 has always been one of the highlights of a Grand Prix weekend for me. At least we got the chance to see cars actually racing at the circuits the GP circus visited !

Agreed Davy, and we get to see the Italian karting legends reaching their peaks! Seriously though I am really missing it this year, bad call Beeb.

idk about that, i'm quite taken by the mental image of them recruiting someone like richard wilson (host of "britain's best drives" on bbc4, and "i don't believe it" victor meldrew) to present and commentate, and perhaps dame judi doing the pitlane reporting...

Yes, they appear screwed. The issue with BBC4 is that it only broadcasts between 7pm and stupid o'clock in the morning. It would be getting rid of Gary Glittervision instead.
