So in theory, Holden running the same game V8s so very little change and only dabbling with Turbo V6s I say 1 in all in |

Good. I don't think fans will be pleased with half a field of farty V6 turbos... this delays the problem at least.
The Cadillac ATS-V V6TT road car does sound alright mind you, just the race cars always seem to sound terrible. |

Wouldn't you rather see Holden, Ford and Nissan go for it though. It sucks (for the V6 fans (very few) that it wont be at the start of next season but I would rather see them develop a good engine then a rush job just to get it out, and I am a Ford fan.

Nissan had to test in public. Erebus had to test in public. Seems a bit generous to make sure that doesn't happen for Holden |

That was then, this is now. Half the field run Commodores.
There is a works team. A pukka works team. And several other strong privateer Holden teams. Think of the consumer seeing the V8 Commo-signia racing, heading to their local Zupps or Suttons or other major Holden dealer to be shown something that isn't on the showroom floor. In terms of engines, because there is a works team, running the V6TT should have been the non-negotiable marketing prescription. Especially since there are going to be no cars made here by Holden by next season. They could even drag out the old FHolden slogans.. "The V6 Fix..." From a marketing perspective, it is inelegant to have the VF shape running against the new Insignia.. especially if it beats it. There is a cost to inelegance. It usually involves confusing the very people you are trying to influence to buy your road car products. You might argue that Volvo buyers in the supercar road car market would be pulled towards that brand's performance range anyway. A V8 isn't absolutely critical since there are alternatives. And the 3 men and a rental car company taking up Altimas may not trouble the scorekeeper. Arguably too Nissan has not built the segue between Altima and the rest of their range. Had they done that, maybe the road car part would fire harder. It is all about the marketing here. On track, the parity police will eventually build a balance of performance on an ongoing basis. The optics are what doesn't work right now |

Holden won't be selling a V6TT Commodore though...so it doesn't matter what engine they run.

Current SC blocks aren't iron.
They're not even produced by GM. |

I know there is a choice of either in the Ford Racing catalog, but I didn't know we used the alloy ones here. |

Tim Slade Out Of Contract At End of 2017
Will it just automatically renew? Where would Mr Slade go elsewhere? Or will BJR shift the Freightliner branding to #8 to put Mr M. Jones in the #14? |

IMO Macauley's not quite ready for the main game yet. He's doing alright in Super2 but not well enough to make me think he's a front runner there.
I don't think there is really a better team for Slade to go to, except maybe GRM (I think Moffat might be out of contract at the end of this year too?) Likewise I don't think BJR is really going to be able to get anyone better then Slade. James Courtney came to mind but apparently he is stuck with Walkinshaw until the end of 2019 (poor guy...) Blanchard is off contract as well, so it's quite possible that Macauley could take his seat if he steps aside like he suggested he might do at the end of this year. |

You'd think all involved would want things to remain as they are.
