Camping
Hi...
Does anyone know of any camping at Silverstone? particularly for the 6 hours thingy. I'm doing that one as a spectator, prehaps I'll marshall it sometime next year if this trip goes well. |

There isn't any camping for spectators at silverstone usually. I also don't think there will be any marshals camping as its only a one day meeting.

I know from friends that spectated at the GP that there is a hotel and golf course right next to the circuit that have camping facilities. Unfortunately I don't have the name of the hotel to hand. They said the facilities were excellent, particularly the shower facilities and you could get breakfast at the hotel.
I'm sure a quick internet search or perhaps someone else on here will know what it's called. |

The hotel is I believe Whittlebury Hall. It is a VERY upmarket establishment.
I think the camping facilities may only be available at GP time |

It can be done on the day,if you can put up with early starts and late(ish) home arrivals....(one of the downsides of Marshalling )
Besides if you are only spectating,a more respectable departure time is possible . |

says I can stay the night at his place. Jackpot! it's either that or a 6:00 am departure ! I normally attempt camping at circuits though. Pembrey isn't bad untill people park their motorhomes with noisy generators right outside your tent. where else is good? |

I would have thought that you could use the normal marshalls campsite, on the grass up copse runway.
But beware, as it's not a 2 day meeting there probebly wont be anybody at all there even the teams would have gone home, and you may want to tell security that you are camping, it has been known for a track day on the sunday to mean that you have to move eairly, or get woken up by a security guard. Wittlebury hall only does camping for the GP, the other alternative is to stay at the travellodge near the green man pub, only about a mile from the circuit down the A43. |
