Did they? I apolologise for my ignorance then. In my defence I didn't see that much of the car in the whole meeting after the start of the sprint race though, and it isn't clear.

I've heard that the Team GB car was running with incorrect tyre pressures on the 2nd run with new tyres (teams only had 2 sets for qualifying this time) which was in the final qualifying quarter.

We both get our information from the same source then, Al

We have the pitstops, don't get too woriied for Robbie! He'll be fine.

Did you also hear that John Bright is no longer with the team, all of a sudden? I found that a bit of a shock. Is he out of Arden or just the A1GP squad?

As Kicking-back knows I'm not loving the way Arden are running Team GB - no idea what is going on there, they seem to be working against the franchise holders and not with them. If they've removed JB then I can only assume someone doesn't like the fact that they did a good job at Germany - it makes no sense!

What does Robbie have to do to get some good luck?

There are, as you know, rumours of money being tight in the team - I don't know if there's any truth in that. I know nothing whatsoever of the background of the situation, but I wonder if the franchise holder came in on the basis of big sponsors, favourite to win, etc. Scalextric. Payback in year one, etc.

Maybe, now that GP2 is over, Arden's full concentration will be focussed on A1GP. You can't argue with the pedigree of the team, that's for sure. But it's a bit of a mystery why we aren't on the pace ... we're consistently a margin off it.

I looked at New Zealand last race ... I know we came 2nd and all that, but look at the race as a whole. Jonny Reid was much quicker throughout. Now I know Jonny pretty well, and I rate him. I know, completely unbiased you understand, that Alex is quicker, and I don't see Robbie being basically (much!) slower than Alex. It was Jonny's first race, so it seems to me that difference is likely to be in the car setup, and that's interesting.

John Watson made the point today, on Sky, that one of the drivers - I forget who - was maybe trying to get the car to the way HE wanted it, as opposed to getting the car to where IT will go quickest, and I wondered if that may apply to us? Maybe Arden are trying to go in a direction that is unfamiliar to them, based on Robbie's requirements? Robbie, self-confessedly, likes the F3 style of carrying corner speed, and I wonder if Arden are trying to get the car to behave like that, when it inherently could be a far more point-and-shoot sort of vehicle? I really don't know, but I really don't see it's because Robbie is slower as a driver than almost any of these others in front of us - I've always rated Robbie very highly as a driver. Better racer than qualilfier, perhaps. But I also don't see Arden doing a poor job as a team, in terms of setup, etc, so I would throw that thought into the mix. Itths a mythtewy.

Much as I'd like to think it would help to put Alex in the car by way of comparison, as I think their driving styles are different, I don't think it would - Alex will be very rusty, and has hardly driven the car, any car in fact. What WOULD be useful, however, is to see someone like Dan Wheldon in the car, as he is at the top of his game, is very "current", and has loads of experience in these quick cars. If he can't get to the top of the timesheets (albeit that I do think Piquet has really gelled with the car and ART/ASM) then you have to look at Arden's base setups. If he can, then it's a driving style thing, but at least we'd know, and can move forward.

Are ART/ASM running anyone else other than Brazil? I wonder if Brazil have them on an exclusivity basis?

So do you think there's much chance of team GBR switching drivers through the season? I suppose the addition of the second cars will allow the "number 2" drivers to build up a bit of experience of the car, but still that's nothing compared to Kerrs two race weekend head-start.

Is this talk of Wheldon just a rumour?

Lee McKenzie was just saying that the A1 GP guys had a bike race last night - Will Davidson apparently fell off after crashing with Parente... He's all bandaged up...

Well done France.

Most enjoyable sprint race of the season so far, that - can't wait for the main one.

Indeed. Wonder if Brazil have anything left for the feature race. It was just as well the top three somehow gave each other room at turn one on the first lap!

Fantastic racing! Well done Jos! Podium for the feature race maybe?

I'm looking out for a lap 1 pit-stop from GBR. Just hoping that not too many of the cars starting in fron of that P20 try the same... Could see him getting stuck behind one after the stop if he's unlucky. But GBR's stops have been spot on so far - we need more of that!!

Only one negative to throw in - the safety car driver was far too slow ahead of the rolling start.

But that's not a problem for the main race with its standing start.

Basically just a chain reaction to a couple of cars bumping - nothing he could really do about it

Strange idea to switch pole from right to left for the feature race. I think it's the better side, but it should have been the same for the sprint race.

Nismo is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
just suprised that britain and ireland have high profile drivers, including an ex f1 driver, nippon champion etc, yet their results are poor! TBH i dont think they will do much interms of winnign races or the championships... other drivers out there are a lot stronger!
