MPH stock

trading at $3.07, near an all time low of $3.00. Hope Norman was the only one dumb enough to purchase such junk

Let poor little rushy be, he's just mad because Dixon is going to win the Inbred Racing League chumpionship easily, and then he will come back to where he really wants to race, CART.

MPH closed at $2.95, down almost 9% today.

This is a new low, and brings market cap down to $43.4 M.

Well if Bernie really wants to buy CART, he can grab 15% of MPH before cutting any deals quietly for about $6.5 M - chump change.

I think something leaked out that isn't good news.

That's a good thing actually, Cart wants to go private again! And I think that would be a great thing for the series.

<<Duh, everything is dropping these days. Just check the markets.>>

In the past three years CART's stock has dropped to around 15 cents on the dollar. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is at 80 cents. We cannot blame CART's stock performance on the market. The stock market questions CART's ability to survive.

<<Cart wants to go private again! And I think that would be a great thing for the series.>>

If it were not for CART going public they would not have the money to be racing today.

True on both counts, Impact.
There's a lot of talk about going private again being a magic wand. Private or public, CART faces the same issues of car count and money and places to run and TV, just as the privately-owned IRL does. The Vannini vision of $10m sanction fees for this organization to make money someday is in error. Who can afford it? How many race fans would pay $300 for a Friday G.A?

If it weren't for Cart going public, there's a good chance it would not be in the mess it is right now.

Correct, it would not be in a mess; it wouldn't exist. It is only the IPO money that has enabled a 2003 season.

No, I mean, if Cart had not gone private it would likely still have all its major engine manufacturers and teams that are now in the IRL. It was a dumb decision and we're paying for it now.

How about explaining your theory there Jay. Thanks.

rush may be an individual whom has no love for CART, but he does post some factual information from time to time, unfortunately, it isn't what CART fans want to hear.

Regarding DJIA, it is actually down 35% since its peak, which of course still doesn't support a thesis that CART is just down because of the market. Of course, you could try and link CART to NASDAQ, which is a closer parallel, but not very flattering no matter what context you try and spin on it.

The market simply prices what they believe future earnings will be. The underlying suggestion is that less and less people feel that there will be any future earnings.

On the day, CART down 8%, DJIA up .86%, hardly a correlation. FWIW, most people in the market rarely use the DJIA as a market indice, rather the S&P500.

Does anybody remember the good old days when fans watched sports or racing just for the sheer excitement of it. Now it's all about money! Who's paid this amount... how much is this guy worth. CART's stock has dropped again...who care's! Sorry about that. Of course I care. But "let the suits worry about it." As a fan of CART, the only thing that interests me is what happens on the track.

Dov - I think we all agree that we are most interested with what happens on the track. Having said that, without money, there is nothing happening on the track, and hence, this prospect interests some of us.

Perhaps the cancellation of Road America has led to this selloff.

Or possibly the Gonzalo Rodriguez lawsuit, which is currently in trial phase. Testimony resumed today.

As mentioned in the other thread today has been a good day's trading for the MPH stock with its value rising by almost a dollar to close at $4.25.

Three weeks is a long time in finance.
