Put your thinking caps on - it's time for a quiz! (Part 1 of 4)
With less than 37 days until James Allen shouts "Go!", to relieve some of the waiting, let's have a quiz (with credit to the boffins at the Herald & Weekly Times, as this was first published in the Herald-Sun on the 15th of January 2005).
I have 100 questions to test your knowledge of Formula One, but to ensure that the thread doesn't become too unwieldy, I'll post them 25 questions at a time, beginning with the first set of 25:
Have a crack at answering the questions as best you can, using all resources available to you, and post your answers in this thread, if you like. I'll be along in a little while to post the answers for this set of questions, and then start the next set in a couple of days. |

You're all wrong on the Hungarian drivers.
You've missed the Hungarian that won a Grand Prix... |

Sadly ensign14, I suspect the writers of this quiz are using "Grand Prix" to mean a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship........ |

I wasn't around, of course!
Read a book about it though - it was the first ever motor-racing event to use the title Grand Prix. |

The inclusion of Indy for 1950 is a little bit ambiguous - the Indy 500 was coutned as a World Championship race in teh early years - it was the only one outside Europe, but there was virtually no cross-over in terms of drivers or teams, and of course the track is totally different.
Nice set of questions overall, msot of them not too difficult for us petrolheads. Bring on round 2! |
