Yeah, really good day. Lucky with the weather or what - my face is red!

Never been to Mallory before - what a cracking little circuit? Comes complete with lovely little old lady clearing the plates up in the caf with her slippers on, bless her.

The Morgan was a real mess, which was a shame. How did that happen - caught a tyre on the grass and whipped over to the opposite barrier or something?

Another spectator wishing to pass on thanks to all concerned for an excellent race meeting.

Also was there some form of classic car club meeting going on as there were some gorgeous classics all over the public parking areas.

Great finish to the season! With much less carnage than the same meeting last year. The drivers' briefing seems to have worked!

Had a great day's racing in the SZ. Was never going to win anything, but enjoyed myself nonetheless, even if a problem with brakes picked up at Saturday's AMOC finale at Donnington, meant i was a little more timid than usual at the hairpin and Gerrards

Had some great dices, even if the combination of a 7 week old baby at home, plus two days racing in a row, means I am more tired than i've ever been in my life....

but worth it!!! :-)

Regards,

James W

P.S. Yes, the 'characters' at the caff in the paddock are one of the things that make Mallory fun. I never know the name of the old lady clearing the plates - we tend to call her Mrs. Overall.....

James

You wouldn't be the chap whose chair fell apart when standing up in the greasy spoon would you (or was it someone on your table)? I just noticed that whoever it happened to had an Alfa sweater on.

Anyway, it made me chuckle!

Lovely lovely place, 'specially the caf!

Moosehead should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Morgan ran wide on the exit of Gerards, all four wheels on the grass for about 3 or 4 seconds but in a straight line, looked like he was gonna keep it straight then the back just started to come round as he edged towards the tarmac. Then it was all over, sideways cross the track into the armco on the inside. Looked very nasty from our viewpoint, we could see him moving in the car but not getting out. Seemed an age before anybody got to him....there were marshals nearly right opposite but they couldn't get across the track. Eventually someone walked (casually) out of the paddock to get to him.

Not knocking anyone but I think a marshal or two on that inside paddock gate would be handy as I've seen 3 cars end up there (all biggies!) in the only 2 Mallory meets I've been to this year.

Just looked at the race results for the Groovy Baby. Lots of retirements any stories to tell? Also I'm surprised to see alan Daffin's Capri winning that one. What tyres was he running?

Standard practice for that corner. Run wide you slap the inside barrier, usually sideways and usually hard.

skentellytubby should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Don't think they were slicks - had a good look beforehand.

Thomas was in the lead for most of the race once Leo Voyazides in the Mustang retired; he stayed there until the end and just seemed to let Daffin through at the last minute (like, right after Devil's Elbow) - I don't think he would have won otherwise.

Peter Horsman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can report that Richard Plant (the grey Morgan driver) quite OK. Bruising and a 'thick' head. Happily, Morgans are awfully strong cars, despite (or maybe because of) their steel chassis and wooden frame. Both of which will need replacement in Richard's case........
