Among the Capris you saw recently, did they all get an HTP and in what category did they apply? Because you can have an HTP for a Group2 and ask/suggest the organiser to race with Grp1. This is not illegal at all even though not pleasant to be discover in the morning. |

Hi Gerard,
I'm not questioning legality and yes you can get a Group 2 HTP and run with Group 1 if the organisers accept the car. I don't know if the cars have an HTP but I do believe we (75th Members Meeting Drivers) have been asked to apply for them. As ex CC Racing Capris I can't see them failing. Don't forget the BSCC and indeed the French Championship, ran to regs that permitted certain changes even though they were not strictly Group 1. The change of carburettor was one such. The French Championship ran triple webers whereas the BSCC permitted a bigger carb but it had to be the same number of chokes. On the Rover that was initially a Holley and then the 48IDA. |

Indeed except the requirement is in the entry forms. Slightly different to the Revival.

Anyway I'm quite convinced you'll find a great pleasure to enter there and that you and you blokes will supply a great show to the spectators. Isn't it essential to bear in mind that this should remain a pleasure?
Peter, I'm not naturally jealous and happy of that but this time may be I could do an exception to this personal rule ! Have fun, enjoy it. |

Oh yes it's a very enjoyable weekend. And as I said I've found a bit more time. I'd like more opportunity to test but work gets in the way so I'm never going to be that quick.
However, being on the grid with such luminaries as Soper, Harvey, Needell et al is a bit special. |

[QUOTE=Peter Mallett

As to the rear Atlas axle, one of my blokes Dany Snobeck and his engineer found something special on the french Production cars. They replaced the anti tramp bars by two small bike shock absorbers ( Fournales patent I guess). Light, clever and very efficient. Compliant in this category but forbidden in Grp1. Of course, "some" can be found on Escort's nowadays! Sorry if this is found slightly out of topic Passion is a powerful engine ! |

Yes these were not used in the BSCC on Capris but the Rovers ram them. I have them on mine and they comply with the Blue Book of the period.

Spent yesterday down at Goodwood at a trackday.
I am sure you'll all be pleased to hear that the daffodils are already out - it looked very spring like, but the temperature was still in winter-mode. Prepartion work is well underway. BTW - Alfa going well after winter head work and adjustments to steering, Elite even better until it developed a leaky rear oil seal. First run in the Alvis special was "interesting"...... |

Nothing to do with Goodwood, sadly. I do have some pics of Rovers and Capris from around the same time but I think I have posted those before. Also nothing to do with Goodwood. |

If you've forgotten what a Capri at Goodwood looks like, here's a reminder

Hi all,
I will be attending the Saturday of the upcoming Members Meeting event, and was seeking some clarification on the dress code for us mere mortals, as the websites FAQ section is rather vague. Many thanks, James |

You can wear your bikini if you wish. No dress code, this is not the Revival.

I understand there is no dress code per se but jeans (my habitual dress) 'are strongly disapproved of'. So I will be going to my first Goodwood for a decade in my country gent green cords and tweed jacket ; I will look like a Poundshop Peter Bowles ...

Could a race meeting be any more snobbish? What a farce |

Pretty sure I wore jeans when I went. Must have done, I don't possess anything else beyond my Interview Suit and I sure as hell didn't wear that!

I've gone in black jeans everytime I've been and never had an issue. Tend to wear a shirt but without a tie, jumper and then a modern coat as it will be artic.
I have read the dress code as smart outdoors stuff which seems to work out well. |

Sorry Guys, I really think you are making a mountain out of a molehill here!
You see a lot of peeps at the Revival in modern togs, shorts etc., but understandably they don't get into the inner paddocks so attired. The MM is more relaxed than that, and most dress for the weather- it is mid March after all! If that means jeans, fleece, gloves, ski-hat, wellies and coat / anorak then so be it..... |
