22015 F1 SILVERSTONE SNOOZE BOXES SOLD OUT

Will call a London RV rental place on Monday.

Found a hotel room 15 miles from the track: $US900 per night. Not in my budget!

And Marilyn does not sleep in a tent anymore.

Any other ideas for F1 Silverstone lodging?

Now you know why we stopped doing the GP all those years ago (12?). Not just the cost of hiring the caravan and getting it there, but also being put on the sloping sheep field after years of getting the flat campsite sorted (it is now a car park).

But we can still dine off our reminiscences of actually having done it, so good luck to you - especially coming all that way.

I haven't done tents for years so Marilyn has all my sympathy. You have to have a toilet to hand and cooking facilities in my opinion (within the accommodation - not together). Maybe a Yurt? Except you need to book about 5 years in advance!

We have a wonderful B&B lady but she will be booked up by now so no point in sending you details, I'm afraid.

We'll watch you on the TV!

Al, I can't imagine a caravan costing much more than your RV at COTA this year it'll be significantly smaller though, as most things in Britain tend to be

Sometimes I wonder if it would be more convenient and over time cheaper to buy a place in Silverstone...

Back in the really "good old days" we of course were camped in the middle of the circuit, next to what is now the overflow paddock... and some could leave their caravans there all year

Those were the days.......

Sunday night, walk back to the caravan in 10mins, eat and drink whilst watching the traffic moving [ahum, NOT moving]

I'm still on the sheep field [although last year I was lucky enough to borrow a friends motorhome, so slummed in style] as my #1 son insists - although I'd be quite happy to stay in my "local" B&B

I'd forgotten about then. Recall being camped near the touring car teams and the loos. I think the smell was due to the latter Remember Mrs Mike Smith (can't think of her name) being absolutely horrified by it all.

And watching the TV highlights in the old clubhouse at Woodcote before leaping(!) over the wall to cross the track and get back to camp.

Those really were "the days".

Thanks, Mike.

Bill also recalls her swearing at some children who had asked for an autograph.
