Holden on pole (And Wins!!) in South African International Superstars series

Fabrizio Armetta (Motorzone Chevrolet Lumina CR8) continued his good form in practice for Sunday's inaugural international Superstars Series for V8 production cars at Kyalami when he recorded the fastest lap time in the second official practice session at the Midrand circuit on Saturday morning.

The Italian, who was second in Friday's opening practice, topped the time sheets with a best lap of 1 min 48,64 sec around the 4.2-km Kyalami circuit. Second quickest was former F1 driver Pierluigi Martini (Zakspeed Team Chrysler 300C SRT-8), less than two tenths of a second in arrears. Third was Friday's pace setter and current Superstars champion, Gianni Morbidelli, in the first of the many BMWs among the 17-car entry for this final round of the series.

The series was shown on Foxtel last year.

It shows you don't have to limit yourself to home grown makes.

Pretty low powered - must be close to stock engines or heavily restricted with only 430 - 450 horsepower.

Be interesting to see some footage to see how good they look going round a track.

It's a performance balanced series.

This car is developed by Maurer Motorsport from Switzerland.

If you were to look at that photo you would be entitled to be excited by this series.
Anyone who watched the last few years when they were on Eurosport would know otherwise.
V8 Audis, BMWs, 300c, s-type Jag, Mercs, Luminas and even a Caddy.
In action, underpowered,underprepared,poorly driven............
Very dull to watch unfortunately. Very slow and cumbersome. As a possible COTF, no, they run the road car shells.........and they groan and creak in the process.

Bit unsure how you watched them for the last few years JJ when you only got Eurosport on Dec1!

I've seen a few races and it's like DTM from the late 80's on a less competitive scale. Not too bad really.

Have to disagree, i found the series, or the regulations anyway, to have some potential.

Production based is a plus in my opinion, and as for the speed, the cars don't have to be breaking outright lap records to have good racing, just look at the V8Utes.

There is a Commodore in the series, that will do. Plus it is something interesting to look at instead of the constant V8 supercar dribble.
