Very interesting and welcomed news ! We've got some competition between privateers.

Now, I understand that they plan on using the Lotus T128 LMP2 monocoque (which was already complying with the 2014 LMP1 specifications) and build the new T129 around it. I am really looking forward to seeing the end result

Why is that? I have seen that remark a couple of times, but haven't figured out why.

Hope the Lotus will actually be on the grid, I love privateer P1s!

The answer to that is a long story but suffice it to say that many folks on this forum are not happy with how Mr. Tucker (owner of Level 5) makes his money to go racing!

There was actually a thread on this topic a few years ago. Here is the link to the thread so you can read up about it.

Oak racing wants to enter in lmp1 but needs of an elegible car. Could be the french team (in collaboration with Kolles) behind this T129?

OAK have a closed LMP1 car of their own in development alongside their new Ligier-branded LMP2.

+ Tucker's hideous team strategies to ensure a championship for himself, which alone isn't enough to wish not seeing the team anywhere unlike the money thing, but it doesn't make the team any more likeable.

Potential track debut after Le Mans this year, but more likely to happen in TUSC.

Can't imagine they will be this year. The team needs to drop that tie-up if they possibly can.

I believe that they were sponsored by Lotus but not re-branded. The entry lists always referred to them as Lolas.

And I was under the impression the Lotus sponsorship wasn't worth much anyway. Hope to see them back in white red and gold

Agree wholeheartedly, the red, white, gold livery was distinctive and really appealing, and I feel it's a shame some of the team highlights were in the faux JPS colours.

Never been convinced by the Lotus branding proliferation (qv Toleman in F1) and last year in particular, when there were Lotus cars running in LMP2 (even if I'd much rather see them branded as Kodewas) and something with Lotus written on the side in LMP1 felt absurd - 2014 with both Kodewa and Rebellion in the same class with essentially the same livery would be ridiculous.

Sad to say but aren't both Lotus T128 either DNF or are always the last two entries of P2? The performance is so disgracing that Adess has to spend the whole 2014 to develop something to save their reputation.

They were midfield-quick for a good bit of this season, but with far too many reliability issues and cases of driver brainfade.

They are going for a AER engine, just wondering if Dyson is involved somehow? Did AER test that engine already in the back of a Lola?
I guess most of the electronics will be new with the new engine

If the adess/lotus T128 was powered by the nissan engine, in the hands of a more expert team I think that the car could have shown a better potential.

The AER Engine is the old AER V6 updated or is a new engine?

Anyway, Lotus improved during the season but for me this step is not logical. Before moving to LMP1 they should have one or two seasons in LMP2 with good performances. Look Strakka, they moved to LMP1 after doing well in P2 and now they have to move back because P1 was too much for them.

The Judd wasn't the problem. Judd powered cars actually had a higher top speed at Le Mans than the other P2 engines.

Both Status GP and Lotus did well with their Judd powered Lola's in 2012. Morand Racing and Race Performance are doing well in ELMS. Oak Racing Team Total won the AsLMS Championship in a Judd powered Morgan LMP2.

Yes, the Nissan engine is probably the best P2 engine overall. But the Judd engine isn't far of.

Speaking of mere hp, surely the judd-bmw is the best revving over 9000rpm. I was implicitly talking about reliability.

AER builds V6s (possibly based on Nissan?) for Renault World Series, GP3, and now Indy Lights. I would assume it is a version of this engine? It is rated at 450 bhp normally aspirated---don't know if it would be able to produce that over an endurance distance. Any word on whether or not it will be a turbo-V6?----(EDIT: Further research shows that this engine is indeed turbocharged.)

Chris Dyson has been associated with Greaves' P2 entry--moving to Lotus for a P1 drive? Or just content to sell the motors and let Addess sort out the rest (and pay the bills--possibly.)
