Yes, but in case of IMSA they don't give out the invites based on points, IMSA simply picks who gets them. I'd assume they would have a fairly good idea whether the team they pick intends to take up the entry. Last edited by Dead-Eye; 20 Dec 2013 at 15:59. |

But in case of Audi/Joest it doesn't really matter - they will enter two cars for WEC, and that gives them the right to enter a third car for Le Mans. And that's what they'll do. Getting back to the list, a surprise, at least to me, is the missing invite for SMP in GTE-Am, due to "The winner of the GTC category who did not take part in all ELMS events cannot be invited" rule. Shame - they were a class better than the opposition, and they would be a worthy addition to the field. |

Do you mean that they would probably get a two-car invite for GTE-Am even without entering WEC? They would need to enter two GTE cars in ELMS/AsLMS/USCC instead, to meet the prerequisite, wouldn't they?

That said it didn't exactly translate into success with ESM, Dyson and the like. Let's see. |

Was looking through the supplementary regs for the 2014 race trying to find some stuff. I quite quickly found something I wasn't aware of regarding drivers being allowed into the race.
Apparently if you're a rookie you don't have to be present at Test Day. Instead you can jump in the simulator. Is this a new rule? Or has it been in place a while? Quote:
That said, if you're a new competitor (a new team) then you have to be there if you haven't done Le Mans before. |

So, Muscle Milk is officially in for LMP2. I wonder if they'll push an entry at the 24 this year with Luhr and Graf. Also, Risi Competizione has been designated for competition. I know Krohn Racing won't be in the WEC in 2014, but they're looking to make the TUSC NAEC rounds with the 458 Italia so could we see a Krohn-Risi parternship at Le Mans with one or two cars? That would be nice. |

Also, mark your calendars for FEBRUARY 13TH!! All WEC and LM24 entries will be announced then! Additionally, it looks like Jota Sport going back to Le Mans... looking for "2 quick single seater guys". Also hinted in the article that Oliver Turvey may be one of them. No offense meant to any of the guys at Jota but don't you think a driver of Turvey's caliber should be getting on with his career. He should be in LMP1 by now, IMHO. http://www.endurance-info.com/en/jot...-mans-in-2014/ |

I think if he says they are looking for two guys then Turvey probably won't be with them. But I'm sure they've left the door open if he can't advance up the ladder.
He should be at least doing the WEC tracks, hopefully with Rebellion. Maybe someone like Harry Ticknell could end up with Jota. |

Yep fair point guys. Upon actually reading it you're right. I suppose it's fairly commonplace now for drivers to jump in the simulator. Didn't know it was a requirement.
I still think the ACO should be a bit stricter in the overall quality of an entry given the stature of the race. |

It is interesting its there though. Just goes to show how much faith is put in simulators these days.

Well it depends what they are actually doing in it I suppose. It's being labeled as a training course so I guess it's not out and out practice laps.

Why Risi Competizione has an invite for LM2014? Shouldn't have been Corvette Racing?

They are known as 'at large' invites, meaning it is the decision of the series who they pick. Giving the invite to Corvette is a waste seen as they are basically guaranteed two entries each year. Why not give it to someone else and try to get more American entries into the race. The idea is they give invites to teams who would like to go. That doesn't always translate to a final entry - but it's a start. Risi say they still need to get the budget in place, but at least they know they have an entry on the table. |

Muscle Milk Pickett are weighing up whether to go or not.
Oreca would help them out so it would be a great opportunity. There will always be a reason not to go - but hopefully they'll throw their hat in the ring. http://www.racer.com/pickett-conside...rticle/326862/ |

The reason not to go is money. But, if people were logical, no team outside of Europe would ever go to Le Mans. Long live the delusional! |

How much could be sorted by Oreca, how much would need sending there, how much would need immediately sending back in time for the next race? How do they negotiate test day? You can work out the bottom stuff quite easily, but the top half is almost impossible to work out. Do they play it slightly selfish and take the entry anyway, then see how things pan out? That could buy them a bit of time before choosing whether to pull out. There's lots going on besides money. |
