cavvy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who gets the prize money

At the end of the season the driver/car winnings are published - where does the money go? I appreciate every deal is different but as a rule of thumb, how does it work?
Are drivers on a retainer plus a share of the winnings?

Happy to research myself but I've drawn a blank, help ... thanks.

Some get a retainer and a share of the winnings. A common split is 40% for the driver and most of the rest to the team owner with a small percentage going to the mechanics.

Some just get a share of prize money and expenses.

usually it is determined per contract and sponsor arrangement many drivers have personal sponsors and get winnings there and the team gets zero...
It varies very much so driver to driver.
Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson likely have retainers, where a driver like Almirola and Logano and Truck Series drivers, have %'s or some sponsor pay only (from what i have heard...)

Then there are lifetime contracts, surely someone has a lead on 'the good oil' - I'm googled out or is that googled off ?

And that would by 40% of a sum much larger than would have been anticipated at the start of the year. Good result for him and the team.
Plus he would be getting big bucks for his acting in the Little Debbie ads with that stupid koala that has a pommy accent too
It's good to see Marcos win some big money, a lot of what he earnt in Aussie V8s was used to pay back money from his F3 days in Europe I was told.

Man, if I made all the money that these guys do, I wouldn't even be able to imagine all the stuff that I could buy.
