RaceTime should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just who should be in pit lane?

The comments have been made before about safety in pit lane - particularly after Murphy's fuel rig problem at Bathurst.

Watching Pukekohe and the pit stops, it was extremely interesting to see Tony (can't remember last name) - Mr RaceFax standing on the OUTSIDE of pit lane ie on the track side of pit lane - watching cars exit the pits.

Now sorry - but I cannot see ANY justification for ANYONE other than pit lane marshalls or officials to be at that point in pit lane.

And they are concerned about safety in pit lane? Garbage AVESCO - clean up the people who should be there first and THEN you will get some reasonable pit lane safety happening.

Having spent a fair bit of time in pit lane in recent times, all I can say is that there are some incredibly foolhardy team members out there... The number of people who I've seen nearly run over simply because they aren't paying attention is staggering. Plus, if you give them a helmet, they seem to grow a bit of invicibility... I spose they are in there week in and week out, but I know for a fact that someone will get badly injured one day soon....

Oh well, at least Tony Whitlock was in a safer position compared to the photographer who last year stood near pit exit on the grass between the race circuit and the armco wall with !NO! protection between himself and the cars.

And Crash can probably confirm that at the Qld 500, Tony wore a fire suit.

Besides, TC takes in-appropiately dressed ladies out into the racing pit lane so what's the problem? ;-)

Yeah, he has a schmiko race suit.

Actually one unidentified boss of AVESCO had a heap of kiddies in pit lane during the 500...

I will - he doesn't talk to me anyway (and what really ****es him off is that his wife always stops by to say hello and catch up when she is there - the look on his face when he sees us talking is something to be believed (and I have the feeling she knows exactly what she is doing

Hey I'm sure she understands, after all he is doing to her what he is doing to most of us who aren't in the chosen categories in Australian motorsport.

In Cart any one who steps over the yellow line when they are not allowed get a 10 k fine.

But CART are prepared to levy these fines and police their rules - CAMS make rules which they immediate bend, break or change to suit whoever they need to....
