Vision Racing will field a Indy Lights car in 2009, in addition to their IndyCar entry. Australian James Davison will pilot the car.

A few more updates...
Jonathan Summerton and Mario Romancini completed a test this week with Andersen Racing at Homestead. Summerton led the way, but was reportedly closely followed by Romancini. Sergey Mokshantsev signed with Brian Stewart Racing this week and will contest the full 2009 series. He tested with the team in Kentucky last fall. The 26-year-old will be the first Russian born driver to compete in the Indy Lights series. Also for anyone interested, I recently finished my Junior Formula 101 write-up on the history of the Indy Lights series; You can view it here. |

Obvious question, anybody else think that Ana Beatriz will be in the IRL in next year?
Looks to have solid sponsorship going and looks certainly more than capable from what I've seen from last year. |

Hey gang,
Just a heads up, Pippa Mann (Panther Racing) quickest in the morning session of the rookie portion of the two-day official test at Homestead, edging Mario Romancini (RLR/Andersen Racing) and Sebastian Saavedra (AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing). Times here: http://www.eformulacarnews.com/news_info.php?n=4963 Cheers, Al. |

12 rookies, not bad at all!
The grid promises to be well endowed this year, too, notwithstanding the general crisis |

Oh dear. Indy Lights = Career suicide 9 times out of 10. |

Only the road courses at the start - wonder why he never had a crack at British F3 Championship class?

I would guess it's all down to budget. He had offers with Manor and Fortec for the Championship class last year, but could only afford a National class season.

So British F3 is more expensive than Indy Lights then...

No, but the half season he's confirmed for is considerably short of a full F3 budget.

Mario Romancini has signed with Andersen Racing and has done extremely well in pre-season testing.
James Hinchcliffe signed with Sam Schmidt Motorsports today and should be an immediate title contender. |

Agreed, I think he should stick to commentating, he's nothing special as a driver IMO.

Nothing special maybe but there's some nothing special drivers in all series. He's good enough for a spot - just not sure it should be with Schmidt, but hey he's going to do well for sure.
