Elison to get Tech 3 Yamaha test!

It appears that James Elisson is finally going to get a chance to ride for a good mid field team next year providing he can perform well at next weeks test in Sepang. Okay its not quite the big time, but if he gets the ride for 2006 hopefully he can get some good results.

Full article can be found here.

Haha, well thanks for that mate, butI think James is better off staying put if he can for the D'Antin Ducati ride, they are getting 06 bikes and Bridgestone tyres whichhave been tested to death on that bike.
A Tech-3 Yamaha is no better really, and we still dont know for sure if they are gonna have a team next year do we? Who are gonna be the sponsors? It cant be James bringing money coz he aint got any!
For your info ASCII, James was a double junior Superstock champ in the early noughties, got a supersport ride for Eckl Kawasaki whic was a disaster.
Then in Endurnace and won the championship, next year was privateer champ in BSB on an R!, getting many top ten results on Pirelli tyres aswell. Also got a top six at Silverstone WSB on same bike

Does it say a lot for how fortuante he is to get this opportunity that chunder appears to have forgotten or ignored his 1 1/2 years plodding around at the back on the WCM bikes? He's usually been faster than Battaini this year, and has a good record on other Yamaha bikes, so there is some logic in trying him. I'd agree that D'Antin is a better ride to aim for, barring a big cash injection from Yamaha or elsewhere, but he's best to consider all options and at least have a fall-back plan - especially as the Yamaha may suit him more.

To be fair, the Ducati ride would be a 2005/2006 hybrid. 05 bike with 06 parts in certain area's. Would tech 3 be a full 2006 bike? He matched Robby Rolfo on his first outing on the bike which is a good achievement and I reckon he'd out perform Rolfo next year given the chance. But a Yamaha ride could see him be in line as the potential replacement for Rossi should he leave. Ties with the works Yamaha team can't be a bad thing. Having lost Stoner to Honda they'll be looking for someone to develop.

Ah yes, I seem to vaguely remember him now...
Not a shabby driver IIRC.

D'Antin is on a "Customer spec" 2006 Ducati.

Solves all the problems of:
A) The private bikes being better than the factory bikes, like '04.
B) The private bikes being total pants.

Now they're in it together!

And most probably the Tech 3 would be a '05 Yam.

Ha, hadnt forgotten him riding the WCM, just presumed everyone knew!
Randy did confirm that the Dantin bikes will be the saem as factory ones form the start of season, but then will only get drip fed developments. Is pointless giving them rubbish because Bridgestone can then use four biikes data instead of just two.
Agreed about Yamaha though, Tech-3 were only on fairly old hat this year and we still reamin to be seen what the deal is with whether they exist or not still! I had heard rumours of a Kawasaki second team for them, probly including Jacque (groan)
