Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Time filler: your fantasy bike racing grid

If you could pick a grid of riders, what would you go for in terms machinery and rider line up? You can include riders from different series if you want. This is what I'd go for:

First have everyone on Pirelli tyres. Then:

DUCATI 999
Inforstrada Ducati - Troy Bayliss and Shane Byrne
NCR Ducati - Pierfrancesco Chili
Fila Ducati - Neil Hodgson and Ruben Xaus
Xerox Ducati - Regis Laconi and James Toseland
Monstermob Ducati - Sean Emmett and Gregorio Lavilla

HONDA FIREBLADE
Castrol Honda - Colin Edwards and Chris Vermeulen
HM Plant Honda - Michael Rutter and Ryuichi Kiyonari

YAMAHA R1
Sony Yamaha - Noriyuki Haga
Virgin Yamaha - Steve Plater and Gary Mason

SUZUKI GSXR1000
Alstare Suzuki - Troy Corser and Yukio Kagayama
Rizla Suzuki - John Reynolds

KAWASAKI ZX10RR
Fuchs Kawasaki - Chris Walker
Hawk Kawasaki - Glen Richards and Scott Smart

BENELLI TORNADO
Acer Benelli - Peter Goddard

FOGGY PETRONAS FP1
Foggy Petronas Racing - Garry McCoy and Steve Martin

What do you have against Pitt or Abe? I'd rather see Colin stay in MotoGP - he's doing really well and should take at least 1 win next year. Reynolds would never go to WSBK - he's turned down the chance, I doubt he'd want all the travelling or track-learning anymore. And Emmett, Smart and Rutter aren't good enough for the world series - and as for the perma-crashing Steve Plaster..... Not to mention, who would race in BSB if this situation unfolded?

A works Honda team would be great though. If Chris doesn't go to MotoGP for next year he'd be ideal to lead it alongside Kiyo or perhaps Karl Muggeridge. Klaffi are having a strong debut season, and Ten Kate could be a championship fixture for years. Extra Suzukis would be good - perhaps the 2005-spec bikes for Kaga and a young rider, with a big star brought in alongside Troy. Chris Walker deserves better than a private Kawasaki, so maybe him.

Well I was thinking of what would it be like to have riders from British and World Superbikes together on the same grid? The closest we ever had to that were the one off wildcard entries at the British rounds a few years ago.

Don't forget the Japanese series, that's a very strong field in its own right, the Italian one is fairly good, and the AMA has a few top riders. I'd agree that few of the additions you included would be up to the job. And you've left out some very good riders and teams - especially Lanzi and Neukirchner. And how many of your Ducati teams would be factory - Xerox used to sponsor NCR/Caracchi and now sponsor the main team - Fila's a name from the past in racing terms. Frankly I prefer the grid we've got now by some distance.

hey guys,
Let's go deeper into fantasyland and have a dream line up of :

Geoff Duke , John Surtees, Mike Hailwood
Valentino Rossi, Loris Capirossi, Marco Melandri
Eddie Lawson, Mick Doohan, Kenny Roberts, Snr.
Jim Redman, Phil Read, Bill Ivy,
Barry Sheene, Dave Aldana, Cal Rayborn
Johnny Cecotto, Kork Ballington, Jarno Saarinen
Giacomo Agostini, Alberto Pagani, Jnr., Armando Torracca

all in their hey-day, all mounted on Honda 5s and using Bridgestone tyres - now that's real fantasy racing !!
