World Challenge tube framer, should be GT3 pace but it's heavier and more powerful.

While it is a bit heavier than the standard gt3 car, it gets balanced with the competition so I don't exactly see the need. Unless they start shredding through tires....

What I was getting at is I think the rulemakers will give them a break in that regard. I dont believe thats the car's minimum weight. Do you?

How heavy are the CTS-V.Rs? The commentators always say due to their weight being built as WC GT cars they always get tyres temps up before the GT3s so they must be somewhere close to the Acuras?

Yup, see http://www.honda.com/newsandviews/ar...spx?id=7661-en
With the extra weight for the AWD and the caddies being 3200lbs I believe Joeb is right in saying the new Acura's performance will be leveled on it's given weight (3350). Pirelli better step up! |

For the metric among us....
Acura - 1520kg Cadillac - 1452kg Vs most GT3s that are 1250kg-1350kg they're a damn sight heavier. |

If Acura or Cadillac were interested in making a gt3 out of those cars they might be able to find some additional weight reduction. But they don't seem to be interested. Caddy had 2 cars in world challenge and acura has one. That is where they are happy being and the series will take care of them and give them a shot at the front with bop.

Sucks that the Nissan GT-R won't be in TUSC this year. Of course, the 3-year gap is itching this car.
Even if IMSA allowed full-GT3 cars in 2017, the R35 GT-R will be succeeded by the R36 GT-R in the future. |

well, being the north american super trofeo a supporter series of TUSC, to see a detuned, shortwinged and TCS/ABSless huracan supertrofeo in TUSC GTD is not so unlikely.

A quick question for some of the knowledgeable members here.
How does this whole GT3 classification thing work? By that I mean does the manufacturer, say Porsche for example go to the FIA and say we have this car and we would like to classify if as GT3 eligible? Is it vice versa with the FIA publishing a set of regulations (power, weight whatever other benchmarks) and then the manufacturer is left to build a car to those benchmarks. Or is it some other process altogether? |

No such thing as a GT3 rulebook, you build a car, take it to the FIA and they test it, give you restrictors and weight and publish the homologation.

Basically you can race any car you want, like family sedan for example.
