Has there ever been a race where every car retired?
I think the entire field retired in the wet at Adelaide '91, but because Senna was the last to retire, he won the race. Is this true? And if not, is there any other example

I don't think that happenned, there have been instances of only 3 cars finishing, Monaco 96.

In Adelaide 1991, the race was stopped because of the rain

The Adelaid track was notorious for its poor drainage, and all the cars were aquaplaning.
However, let's hope we get more than 6 finishers this weekend. Valve |

I think Monaco 1996 set the record for least amount of finishes with 3 (or was it 4?)
Australia 1991 was stopped after 14 laps due to the absolutely atrocious conditions and the race was eventually abandoned. It holds the record for shortest distance covered ever for a grand prix. |

Actually, Monaco '96 equaled minimal no of finishes (4 - Panis, Coulthard, Herbert, and I think Frentzen), but that allready happened once in sixties ('66?) also in Monaco

Frentzen was stopped in the pits at Monaco 96. However, 7 cars were qualified there, with 3 effectively crossing the finish line.
At Monaco 66, only Stewart, Bandini, G. Hill and Bondurant crossed the finish line and were classified. Guy Ligier and Jo Bonnier also crossed the line, but they were more than 25 laps down, so they weren't classified. |

The 1991 Australian Grand Prix was red-flagged after 14 laps. Full Classification from FORIX.com...less than half the field had retired by this early stage, although there had been a few heavy accidents, so it's no suprise that the event was cancelled.
