The Motosport News mag has been going downhill ever since eNews and just rehashes the same race reports.
It said it wanted to model itself on F1 Racing but failed miserably. Hopefully the great features and writers that were in Motor Racing Australia are incorporated into MNews, and they we get some good analysis of motorsport - no more made up emails from Mr Loeb (pathetic!). Muscle Car isn't impacted, just MRA which is merged with MNews. Hopefully it's more MRA than MNews - that way we get wait we had in MRA monthly rather than bi-monthly. |

MRA tried to monthly thing at the turn of the decade, when "RPM Magazine" was incorporated.
Although MRA was gradually getting more and more 'V8X' as time went on, it still covered many varied topics and i've been buying each edition for years along with AMC. I think it is getting to the point where the weekly motorsport papers are starting the struggle, even Enews in time. Most of the news in AA for example, we've already read about when it was announced and details posted up over the internet. Racing Car News morphed into MRA back in 1993 when it was clear that a monthly 'news' magazine was viable against the then fortnightly AA and soon-to-be established Motorsport News, moving to a more feature orientated was very successful, and still is, as particularly AMC has proven. Perhaps now the battle is coming for the weekly motoring releases against the Internet (Speedcafe.... perhaps forums to an extent as well) |

I have no doubt that would have had an influence in Chevron buying into MN. Still it would be interesting to know just how many actual subscriptions they do have. They're "claiming" a readership of 22'000. Unlike Auto Action, there's no independent audit of MN so you've pretty much just got to accept what the claim. |

What is AA reporting as ABC-audited figures? A few years ago it was ~15,000, most recently I saw ~13,000....

It could be kramer's theory, but maybe they count how many notification emails they send out a week.

It would be easy for MNews to find out how many subscribers they have. How many people download the PDF version and forward it around is what is unknown.
If AA used the V8SA method the readership would be somewhere near 500,000 |

sorry to dig up this old chestnut, but what ever happened to the platinum version of MeNews with the up to date "almost live" news service, or was that one of Rowley's babies that subsequently became SpeedCafe?

keep recieving emails to renew my subsciption, but with all the other media available, not really going to bother. Recieve enough info already and can always rely on "GTR" to provide updated news from "the Powder room".
So why would I give Chevron money ($128.00), unless there is something so big in the world of motorsport, and I can normally follow any Aussie overseas by going on line to the series they are running in, and at the cost of my monthly rip off Internet connection. So, if we have an educated guess, say at least 8000 subs (Aus/NZ/Some Int), at $128.00, thats a nice little kick into the kitty of Chevron. I would prefer pay per view, then at least you pay for what you get, or just buy AA at the newsagents. Maybe one day in the southern lands we will recieve news and information from the internet at a better deal, until then, I will keep paying my monthly bill from my service provider and catch up each night over a few forums on what is going on. |

Perhaps a few of us could start a GTRMagic subscription service. Membership fees consist of a case of Diet Coke. Game on then, Sunshine!!

With almost one year on from the merger would be interesting to gauge peoples
opinion on whether the merger has been good or not. For mine, I cancelled both my subscription to MNews and MRA after the arrival of the first issue. I looked forward to each MRA arriving and had hoped the "new" MNews would be more like MRA but when it clearly wasn't, I bailed. Still have the eMNews sub though, even though most of the news is out in the open before hand anyway. |

im still a subscrber,
my big issue was they put the up price quite a fair bit. previously enews came for free with a motorsport news subscription. i no longer get the magazine subscription. i found there really wasnt a lot to read in it. but i like enews, often has some good stuff in it, especially after a race weekend and in sill season Last edited by peckstar; 9 Jan 2011 at 06:41. |

Was going to agree 100% with Pekstar, but this does not need ot turn into a free market survey for Chevron. They get enough of our hard earned dollars already.

I will be letting my subs lapse when they fall due. Print version is rubbish, then to have to pay for eNews is simply a rip off.

I'm happy for what I get but the mag is pretty out of date by the time you get it, compared to twitter/blogs/forums... But good bog reading nonetheless.
