Everybody knows that the ACO/FIA homologation of the BMW is full of waivers.

Some examples:

The top air duct feeds air to cool the rear transaxle oil coolers.
Quote:
ART. 9 - TRANSMISSION
9.2 - Drive train :
9.2.3 - Gearbox :
a/ Forward ratios : 6 maximum ;
b/ Provided original location and orientation are retained (ACO Homologation form), the gearbox is free ;
c/ Possible modifications of the underbody are permitted to fit the gearbox and the differential but only with the ACO agreement and under the express condition that they do no not modify too much :
c.1 - The integrity of the main structure ;
c.2 - The cockpit inside measurements.
The series M3 has its gearbox located in the front behind the engine. The GT2 M3 however is equiped with a transaxle, so the gearbox is located in the rear together with the diff!

Check out how far back the engine is mounted.
Quote:
ART. 5 - ENGINE
5.1 - Type and location :
5.1.1 - The original engine shall maintain its original location, orientation and position. However it can be :
  • lowered in compliance with the article 5.1.2. below ;

  • moved backward (*) provided the chassis and the dimensions of the cockpit are not modified ;
(*) This modification is permitted only for cars produced in more than 2500 units (with identical external general lines of the bodywork) in twelve consecutive months. It must be approved by the ACO (Homologation form).
By moving the gearbox to the rear, BMW was able to move the engine backward a lot in the GT2 M3. Another waiver granted in the homologation form.

Nice double wishbone suspension at the front.
Quote:
ART. 10 - SUSPENSION
10.1 - Suspension :
10.1.2 - Type and method of operation :
a/ They must conform to the ACO Homologation form ;
b/ It is permitted to modify the position of the suspension mounting points within the limit of 20 mm around the centre of each original pick-up point.
c/ Leal spring blades can be substituted by helicoidal springs.
d/ The hub carriers can be changed but the number of link joints must be kept.
The series M3 has Macpherson struts at the front, while the G2 M3 has double wishbone suspension all around! Another waiver granted in the homologation form.

arakis has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I don't see whats discused here, everyone knows that that fat saloon posing as a supercar is a purpose built race car, that has nothing to do with the original!

there is also something in the rules about not adding or changing side body air intakes, and i am preaty sure the original car doesn't have those huge intakes in front of the back wheels

oh and i am not concerned about bmw at all, its those 'vettes that were tottaly sandbagging all the sessions!!!

How is moving the engine and gearbox substantially to gain a better weight distribution not a critical performance waiver?

It should be agood close race pending none of the big boys run into problems and/or crash. I'd like to see a 4 wide battle into the last turn of the last lap with BMW vs Flying Lizard vs Risi (Khron?) vs Corvette. Falken Tire, Patron Ferrari, and RSR should all be a nice battle too, maybe mixing it with the big boys.

Are these 'waivers' anything to do with Tesco ClubCard points?

Observations for Sebring; Falken showed nice early speed (bodes well for this season), the BMWs were solid and fast, Corvette was very un-Corvette-like, the Lizards were quick and had some bad luck and Risi was just as they always seem to be in enduros, the best. I guess I should just vote for Risi until someone proves they can beat them in an enduro.
