Chef 2011 Silly Season (Merged x5)

Yes its early, but there is a bit out there suggesting what's going on for next year already, no reason not to talk about it..

I would think its a safe bet that there will be more team/REC changes across the season change, pilots swapping teams, retiring, new guys/gals coming in, sponsors changing, coming in, poached, running away...

Change is the only constant...

Silly season threads are also a constant! It had to happen...

I wonder how many other threads will be merged with this one

As this thread is a brand spanker, can we start off by prompting what we currently think might happen? An example:
  • HRT : Driver of #22?
  • FART (Ford Australia Racing Team) : Driver of #6?
  • DJR : Driver of #17?
  • FART (again) : Driver of #55?
  • SBR : Anything on the driver of #4?

I'm not going to do a full list of teams, drivers, sponsors, engine manufacturers, chassis manufacturers. I am sure there are others out there who just loooooove that...

My guess

HRT : Driver of #22 - T.D'Alberto
FART (Ford Australia Racing Team) : Driver of #6 - S.Richards
DJR : Driver of #17 - W.Davison
FART (again) : Driver of #55 - J.Moffat
SBR : Anything on the driver of #4 - Nope

at the expense of any fantasy lists, how about a list of people contracted for a drive? agreed that contracts aren't always real, but at least we can keep track of confirmed drives

otherwise:
HRT : Driver of #22 - agree T.D'Alberto
FART (Ford Australia Racing Team) : Driver of #6 - I hope anyone other than S.Richards
DJR : Driver of #17 - no idea, assume Jnr will trot out the "unsigned and looking" discussion, only to turn up in the #17 come tour de sandpit
FART (again) : Driver of #55 - Dumbrell, unless he goes to corporate land, then J.Moffat
SBR : Anything on the driver of #4 - What would i know... but doubt Davo Snr to be there, unless he has a contract

I think someone needs some help with the definition of "solid", as well.

Reynolds back at Bundy? I think we all hope so, but solid already? Wow.

Also if Price is at TDR I wouldn't expect Bellmont to stay as major sponsor.

If Tony D'Alberto were to move to HRT likely that TDR would close. The REC could possibly be sold / leased to FPR for the desired 4th car.

i think they would keep it running with a pay driver in there or only lease the licence.

Interesting that some are tipping D'Alberto for the #22 factory seat. Unless HRT are wanting to put all their eggs into the Tander ride, it would be astonishing to see a regular midfield runner move into such a coveted ride.

If WD does move on (unlikely, who has ever gone better after leaving a prime factory seat?), HRT may pay the price for taking a pay driver over further developing David Reynolds. IIRC Reynolds showed genuine speed once the shackles were taken off (ie: when he found out he wasn't going to be retained). If you remember back to 2009, with WD and GT running 2nd and 3rd in the series, Reynolds would have been under instructions to "not risk" the car.

Who said that?

I'd be very happy if we could keep this thread for speculation or news on individual moves. Keep the lists for the end of the season. They're impossible to follow on a day to day basis and make finding the actual discussion more difficult.

There are no prizes for getting them right anyway, although I'm willing to consider a week's ban for the one furthest from accurate come the start of next season (no, I'm not being serious on that point).
