Steve Owen in 2009....

Given the consistency and speed shown by Mr Owen in the development series this year.. and the fast car supplied by Mr Loadsman and Racer Industries... the question has to be asked as to what Mr Owen may see himself doing in season 2009 and beyond.

It was interesting to read the comments attributed to Mr Owen in 321 Ignition, as a synopsis of what seemed to have happened in the RNR deal.. around (to paraphrase) how the co-driver who was 2 seconds a lap slower at Bathurst managed to lever him from his drive with the right car deal (thanks Uncle Tom) and budget.

Of course money makes the world go round, and it is clear that Mr Owen is not in possession of a money tree in the back yard.

An endurance run with DJR's second car will be interesting.. if there is enough seat time, the #18 car should be a top 10 prospect in qualifying, and the race if the co-driver can keep up after not having raced a V8Supercar since last year

But what of Mr Loadsman's comments in MeN... suggesting the Tint-A-Car Racing squad may throw their lot in with Racer Industries in 2009 to make a main game assault, in one of the currently spare PMM Commodores?

Is this a way forward... is Tint-A-Car a large enough enterprise to fund a $2m operating cost....

... or is Mr Owen set for another ride...?

It's interesting to read the amount of teams talking about wanting to enter (Loadsman, Sherrin etc..) or add cars to their teams (RNR/D'Alberto, Ford Dealer Team/FPR), to a field which has now been limited to 28...... who'll be left without a chair?

It'll do exactly what was intended (in my opinion), turn the franchises on offer into a bidding war...

as i said in the other thread he would be perfect to replace Courtney at SBR. i think PMM have been good with Rusty this year and IMO he would be more consitant in the same car so would also be great in a main game Tint-A-Car Holden, i would prefer that as i am a Holden and Steve owen fan.

I think Steve Owen is really underrated and is a hell of a lot better than some currently in the main series. If he doesn't have a main drive next year, I'd have to wonder what people are thinking.

I wouldnt call questioning why a codriver at Bathurst managed to take his seat while he was 2 seconds a lap slower in every session as whinging...

Money does make the world go round, but it doesnt mean you have to like it!
