Piquet's english is very natural. I don't recall him speaking before so I'm not sure if it was always that way, but almost sounds American!

Yup

Does anyone think that the new hybrid-must-work-or-else rule for the Hybrid cars has realistically increased the chances for Rebellion (and Kolles I guess...)? And do we know for sure what happened for Porsche at Spa would've resulted for either long repair or retirement at LM, under the new "rules"? Or they would've been allowed to continue anyway as it "sort of" functioned...

I wonder if the Swiss had any saying in implementing this. Cannot see the manufacturers themselves pushing for it, unless one of them was dead sure their system was bullet proof, in which case they might be playing with fire. Maybe it was FIA.

Btw, did Rebellion can Arctic Velvet for this year? I was gonna say that it would be funny if they got away with alcohol sponsorship again at LM (like last year) unlike parties like ESM, however it seems to have disappeared.

I guess it's easy for Brazilians to sound similar to Americans as Kanaan and Castroneves also sound very American.

Lots of non-native English speakers sound American as most English language films, tv shows and music comes from America.

Piquet, Jr.'s mother is Dutch, she raised him for a period in Monaco, then he moved to Brazil to be raised by his father, and learn Brazilian Portuguese, and went the The American School in Brasilia. He probably has no real native language.

That's because it's taught all the way from elementary school (if not earlier) and obviously now all things media and globalized culture only strengthen that. It's pretty much the second language without official status

We are also forced to study Swedish (the ACTUAL second language in Finland) but majority hate it and learn nothing of it. The Swedes don't have to learn Finnish though

Anyway I feel I write decent English, and understand things in literal sense, but my spoken is awkward and terrible (especially in customer service). It's especially shaming when visiting a boards. Not all can get rid of the clunky accent

I have actually been told that as well from one of my british colleges who lives in Denmark now.
But that is more the choice of words (kids instead of children) than does it, and also that nordic languages are more tone flat (especially danish) which is closer to American than British.

If I should be fair, I think that most people who speak English as a second language speak "International English" with a mixture of both British and American.
But that is just based on my experiences and understanding

I would say mix between "International English" and "Tourist English"...

Going off the track again though! Anyone care to discuss the points I said in post #1429?

Look at the difference in the rear wing. The Rebellions still had the highest top speed, it means the ICE is probably over 600hp.

Yes there is a difference in that photo, but how much wing are the rebellions running? Hint: there's no rebellion in that photo
