Vettel was trying to win the race, as was Ricciardo, both driving the best cars (after Merc), but in the latter stages Kvyat kept pace with them quite easily in a Toro Rosso, and looked like he could have passed both, possibly.

Was this a tyre thing, or is Danil better than some give him credit for?

Tyre thing. Kvyat with his new tyres was lapping up to three seconds faster than the leaders. Pirelli magic

must say i think DK showed himself to be a real team player so much credit to him.

i suppose one can argue he had been pushed into it but i though his drive showed 'maturity' as well. i think he will back on a top team soon enough.

I really feel for Kvyat, the guy has a lot of potential (honestly I see the sorts of qualities in him that put him at least on a par to Rosberg was before 2014, and look at him now).

However, whilst I maintain Kvyat didn't deserve the demotion, Verstappen most certainly deserved the promotion and proved why.

Red Bull have four very talented drivers on their books in F1, but if you ask is Verstappen quicker than Kvyat, the answer really has to be yes. So the move was a logical one. I still think Ricciardo might be in red overalls next year - just a hunch - so keeping Kvyat on rather than dropping him altogether is wise. Question is, are any of the juniors - Gasly? - ready to make the step up next year?

I don't think Gasly has the talent comparable to the current four Red Bull drivers to be honest. Vandoorne, maybe.
It's logical for Red Bull to keep them probably for another three years rather than promote Gasly.

The problem is that they've always regarded STR as a team for juniors. I don't see Sainz or Kvyat having long-term futures there.

The only 'experienced' driver they had was Bourdais
