intersting photo- but i feel this is a left field sort of speculative job there.
perhaps they will use a trimaran nose or a heavy mustacchio type appearance, but that shape does not seem to impart any strength to the design as the horizontal section of the wing support would likely have trouble at 90 degrees I feel. but I am not a wind tunnel and multiple forces expert, i am just a simple run of the mill genius |

Hmmm, another one.
Whats the deal here? Why all of a sudden do we have teams going for a different wing? PS not as bad as the Williams, but still pretty ugly |

It would be a first for Ferrari to reveal the car before the launch.

Doesnt mean its not a variation on the 2003 car... something to try and see if it works. 20,000km of testing a season, they must do something other than wearout countless sets of Bridgestones!

Senna12, nice photoshop work.
Actually, the nose of new Ferrari contender is conventional, is narrower and low nose. Look: https://www.owners.ferrari.com/cgi-b...01_0_login.jsp |

It's a generic F1 car form - I've seen it on other websites with a different colour for the tarp. The nose on that car isn't even right for last year's Ferrari or the one before that...
The above car is almost certainly a photoshop project... besides the problems with the lighting and perspective, the rest of the car (including all decals) are exactly identical to the 2003 car. It's unlikely that they'd have the car prepped up like that just to test new parts - or even a whole new car. |

single most glaring photoshop detail is the shadow from the wing supports on the "new" wing

Sheeesh, I'm sorry I brought it up!
If you care to rag some more, please go to prancinghorse.co.uk, as I had nothing to do with it. |

Maybe, the tusks in new Ferrari not photoshop work.
Jean Todt reveal that Ferrari 2004, due to be designated as the 655, will have a front wing that could surprise everyone. http://www.eurosport.com/pages/V3/sp...415&Gener=true |

Ferrari insiders have stated they tried this idea a couple of years ago but shelved it because they could not get it to work. They also said if Williams get it to work they will look at it again.Williams have got it to work so we wait and see.(Info from F1live.com arcives 04)

Well the photo looks a bit off to me. To be honest I can not see a whole lot of difference here. Considering Ferrari is claiming that "it will have a front wing that could surprise everyone"

Now seriously, I read that some others teams (like Renault) also stated they tried this idea, and shelved bacause not work. And for Williams, Geoff Willis said similar explanation, tried this idea but not work. So, apparently its need thousands hour in Williams's windtunnel to make it work. |

It's not so much the serodynamic constraints, more a case of getting the (massively) shorter nose section to pass the crash tests. The idea would have worked aerodynamically ages ago, but it wouldn't have been legal.
But now due to advancements in materials engineering, they can make the nose section strong enough to pass the test, even with the reduced length. Even Patrick Head himself said one reason they looked at it again this year was because they didn't require the full nose length to pass last year. Of course, the concept will still have needed refinement in the 'tunnel though.... Ed Last edited by Try Hard; 22 Jan 2004 at 10:22. |
