Classic Formula Ford were at Lydden in 1993 and 1994 - my only two visits to the venue.

Malcolm Barfoot Crossle 25F won in March 1993 [and also did the Champ of Lydden - or whatever it was called - with the more modern cars winning that championship in the process, as McLaren wouldn't allow any more racing that year.)
I recall he was in the low 44s'

Richard Peacock then won the 1994 race in a Royale RP21. I'm almost certain he did a 44.0s.

I've looked at fastest laps since then in the comics, or (MST) TSL and recall seeing 43s'

The Kent County FF1600 raced at Lydden in the late 90's. I have a results sheet with me doing a 43.7, and pretty sure the fastest lap was a 43.5 by Neil Blunden is his Reynard. I'm in the USA now but I'll ask my mum to dig out the result sheets at home and see what I can find. This was in '97.

the Kirkistown lap record has been lowered again. Ivor McCullough set a new lap record of 60.719 seconds on 6th October.

Ive had a look through a few old sheets and the quickest I found was by me and was a 43.70. Although I thought that I did a 43.50 along with Brett Francis but couldnt find that.

Well, my time in updating the table is definitely nowhere near lap record pace. I've finally updated the Kirkistown entry; well done Ivor for reclaiming that one.

I haven't put anything in for Lydden yet. It looks like some progress was being made. I need:
- Full Name
- Car
- Time (down to thousandths of a second if possible)
- Date (dd/mm/yyyy)

Hi Josh,

I am not completely certain if it is the record, however, for the 'FF1600' specification, I am aware that Dieter Hackel did a 2.44.000 on the current Spa Francorchamps circuit, in an 88 Van Diemen with an average speed of 94.83mph, on the 21st July 2012. Ive not seen quicker in the 5 years at the races I know that have been taking place at Spa.

As there have not been many races that allow more current FF1600 models at Spa since the layout changed (and gravel traps removed) in the mid 2000's. The FFR series in 2013 allows cars upto and including year 2000 cars to enter to FF1600 regulations on ACB10 tyres, so I suspect it wont take long for this time to tumble!

And Im quite aware Spa isnt in the UK, but its only 4 hours from Dover

So, thanks to Trevor at the BARC, we now have the lap record for Pembrey. Incredibly, it is even older than Spence's Mallory effort. Step forward Nico Palhares.

I have emailed Lydden to see if they can help out with our continuing quandary.

Along with the usual meetings at Brands, Combe, Kirkistown, Oulton and Thruxton, there is the chance to snatch David Grady's 2007 LR at Rockingham this year. By the end of next weekend we'll have found out if anyone has managed.

Also, the Classic boys will be visiting Pembrey, Silverstone Arena will host the pre-72 contingent again whilst the HSCC will be making a visit to Snetterton, Silverstone International and Croft. Plenty of opportunities for times to tumble!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Lap records can only be set when track conditions are at their optimum & fastest laps don't always win races. Enjoy your racing; that is the main thing!

You can add Noel Dunne to the list. He established the lap record in bishopscourt on Sunday with his Van Dieman RF00 with a time of 1:14.194. Track length 1.83 miles

Thanks Red Legs, Sam told me through Facebook. I just haven't got round to it which, considering I'm convalescing thanks to a broken collarbone and an emergency appendix removal (all within the space of a fortnight), is pretty poor form on my behalf.

Scott Malvern's Anglesey Coastal record went yesterday - 1st December - in the first race of the day for the 2013 Moose Trophy.
First David McArthur dipped under it, then Ian Gough went a smidge faster and David responded by leaving it at 1m.11.031s 78.55 mph in his Van Diemen LA10

Malvern's 1m 11.179s mark was also bettered in the second race of the day with DMac setting a 1m11.137s.
Two wins - the second for the Bernard Baxter Trophy was a fine end to the season for David, who as well as clinching the 2013 Star of Anglesey title annexed both end of season trophies - becoming the first double Moose winner in the process.

Well considering it was set April 2009 and both records (coastal & International) were set on Scott's UK car race debut weekend (he'd competed in just one event prior at Mondello Park) so still very much a novice,and in the fierce heat of battle with the mighty Rory Butcher I think it's amazing to have lasted as long as it has!

Records are made to be broken; congratulations to David McArthur. We loved Anglesey though and very sorry that we haven't had the opportunity to return since that one and only visit. Maybe we can put that right in 2014

That's amazing considering it was 1st December! The track conditions must have been very good; not that I'm taking anything a way from any of the drivers. Looking at the names I know that they are all highly acomplished FF1600 pilots! But you need everything to be right to break the lap record.

Well done to all the new record holders. Wish we could've been there! As I said we loved Anglesey on our one and only visit there (incidentially the dates in the table above slighty out for Scott's records - the one meeting he did was the first weekend in April 2009). Would be lovely to come back next year. Great venue!
